Zamata graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Drama and trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. According to Zamata’s bio on her official site, she’s performed stand-up at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Great American Comedy Festival, the Letterman Showcase in the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, and Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch Showcase.

NBC officially announced Zamata’s addition to the cast on January 6, 2014 via press release and also on Twitter.
