Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl, Captain America) has joined Sigourney Weaver, Carla Gugino, James Wolk, and Brittany Ishibashi in the cast of Political Animals, a six hour original series on USA Network. Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters) wrote, will direct the pilot, and serves as an executive producer on the dramatic series.

Political Animals will air this summer.

The Plot:

Pulling back the curtain on persuasive public speeches and stirring campaign ads, the fictional look at a former first family exposes a dynasty weakened by political ambition, lust and greed. In the wake of a recent divorce from her philandering ex-husband — who is still as much in love with her as with the office he once held — and the loss of the presidential nomination, Barrish attempts to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with crises of the State Department and the hungry DC journalist (Gugino) bent on destroying her career. Ishibashi stars as Douglas’ fiancée, Anne Ogami.

Stan will star as Thomas “T.J.” Hammond, the son of former First Lady/newly appointed Secretary of State Elaine Barrish (Weaver) and her ex-husband, the former President Bud Hammond. A lost soul who struggles with addiction, T.J. is the polar opposite of his brother, Douglas (Wolk), who serves as their mother’s chief of staff.
