Showtime has given Penny Dreadful a second season renewal order for 10 new episodes set to air in 2015. And just as with season one, season two will shoot in Dublin, Ireland. Season one of the show has been averaging 4.8 million viewers and has become the most-watched new show ever on the network, so news of a renewal order was not unexpected.

“Picking up Penny Dreadful was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made,” said David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. “The series has had worldwide impact, drawing big, passionate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and more than any other show on our network has hit the bullseye with viewers who want to watch television in all the new ways that are available. John Logan has deftly created an epic series that has drawn raves from a wide-range of audiences from quality drama lovers to critics, to hardcore genre fans. We look forward to working once again with our partners at Sky Atlantic and are extremely excited for what’s in store for season two.”

Created, written, and executive produced by John Logan, Penny Dreadful stars Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, and Olivia Llewellyn. The cast also includes Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Danny Sapani, and Billie Piper.

For all of you who need to catch up on the series but were holding off in case it wouldn’t be around longer than one season, Showtime has planned a Penny Dreadful marathon on Saturday, June 7th, leading up to the premiere of the fifth episode of the series on June 8th at 10pm ET/PT. Per the network: “Episodes 101 through 104 of Penny Dreadful will air from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and then again from 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.”
