Skeet Ulrich and Laura Harrier Join Tom Hanks in ‘Bios’

Filming on Amblin Partners’ sci-fi thriller Bios has wrapped up in New Mexico. The film’s principal photography took place throughout state with Oscar winner Tom Hanks (Philadelphia, Forrest Gump) starring and Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones, True Detective) directing.

According to Amblin Partners, Bios employed 125 New Mexico crew members, seven New Mexico actors, and more than 400 New Mexico background talent. Shooting locations included Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Shiprock, Los Lunas, Socorro and White Sands.

The announcement of Bios‘ conclusion of principal photography in New Mexico included the news that Skeet Ulrich (Jericho, Riverdale) and Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming, BlacKkKlansman) joined the cast. Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and Samira Wiley (Handmaid’s Tale, Orange is the New Black) were previously announced as stars of the 2020 sci-fi film alongside Hanks.

The thriller was written by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell (Alien, Blade Runner). Powell, Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, Fighting With My Family), ImageMovers’ Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight) and Jackie Levine (Allied, upcoming Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of The Witches) produce, with Luck, Sapochnik, Robert Zemeckis (Cast Away, Flight, Back to the Future trilogy), Adam Merims, and Andy Berman serving as executive producers. Walden Media partnered with Amblin Partners on the project.

Universal Pictures will release the film domestically on October 2, 2020. Universal and Amblin Partners will handle the international release.

The Bios Plot:

“In Bios, Tom Hanks stars as Finch, one of the only survivors of a cataclysmic event that has left America, and the world, a wasteland ravaged by solar radiation. An ailing inventor facing his own mortality, Finch builds a robot to keep his beloved dog safe. As the trio embarks upon an epic cross-country journey, the scientist must teach his creation to become ‘human’ enough to take care of its charge and the beloved pet to accept a new master.”
