I’m still recovering from the explosive season six finale of Sons of Anarchy and it appears audiences were very anxious to find out if creator Kurt Sutter would be killing off any major characters as the series finished up this season. [Don’t worry – no spoilers will be included in this article.] In fact, so many SoA fans tuned in that the season six finale set a new record as the series’ most-watched finale.

Episode 13 of season six had 5.2 million viewers tuning in during its first airing. FX reports that an additional 1.2 million viewers tuned in for the encore for a total of 6.4 million viewers. That’s enough to earn it the top spot in the Sons of Anarchy season finale rankings.

In addition, the finale (titled “A Mother’s Work”) is now the second highest-rated episode of the series behind only the season six premiere. Overall, season six has been averaging 7.3 million viewers which makes it the highest-rated season in SoA history.
