‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Comic Con Plans: Panel, Posters, and Props

CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery will be hosting a panel on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the San Diego Comic Con. CBS and CBS All Access just announced cast members Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, and James Frain, as well as executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Heather Kadin and Akiva Goldsman, are scheduled to take the stage in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center at 2:30pm for a Q&A with Star Trek fans. The Office‘s Rainn Wilson will be moderating the panel and is confirmed to play Harry Mudd on the series which premieres on Sunday, September 24, 2017.


A special Star Trek: Discovery experience will be set up at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery and open to the public throughout this year’s Comic Con. (A Comic Con badge isn’t required for entry into the exhibit.) The exhibit will include the U.S.S. Discovery Captain’s Chair along with costumes, sketches, and other props from the series. The first 1,000 fans each day will receive a limited edition Star Trek: Discovery poster.

CBS All Access also announced the #TREKDISCOVERY Challenge: “On Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22, as part of the #TrekDiscovery Challenge throughout San Diego, fans will encounter an array of authentically costumed Trek ambassadors, representing crews from the first five Star Trek television series (The Original Series, “The Next Generation,” “Deep Space Nine,” “Voyager” and “Enterprise”). Fans who post photos of themselves with ambassadors from each of the five series’ crews – and in the STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Captain’s Chair at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery – and who tag all six photos with the #TrekDiscovery challenge hashtag on Twitter or Instagram, will be eligible to win a Roku streaming stick and a subscription to CBS All Access. Prizes will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans can find clues regarding the location of the #TrekDiscovery crews by following @StarTrek on Twitter and Instagram.”

The Plot: Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship and new characters while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
