CBS’ new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery, has signed up Jason Isaacs (The OA, the Harry Potter franchise) to play Captain Lorca, Captain of the Starship Discovery. Mary Wiseman (Longmire) has joined the cast as Tilly, “a Starfleet Academy Cadet in her final year of study, assigned to the Starship Discovery.” Isaacs and Wiseman join a cast that includes Sonequa Martin-Green (Lt. Cmdr Rainsford), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Stamets), Terry Serpico (Admiral Anderson), Michelle Yeoh (Captain Georgiou), and Maulik Pancholy (Dr. Nambue).
Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on CBS before moving to CBS All Access for the remainder of season one. Per CBS, the new Star Trek series “will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.”
Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth are the executive producers.
