‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ is Officially ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

Lucasfilm and Disney have announced the official title for the upcoming Star Wars film. The next edition in the Star Wars franchise is titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Rian Johnson (Looper) wrote and directed Star Wars: Episode VIII, and Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman produced. J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski executive produced.

Disney’s set a December 15, 2017 theatrical release date.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, and John Boyega as Finn. The cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, and Carrie Fisher as Leia.
