Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) has started shooting Steve Jobs, a biopic based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography. The Universal Pictures film was written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and stars Michael Fassbender in the title role.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is being played by Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels is starring as former Apple CEO John Sculley. Kate Winslet is set to play Macintosh’s former marketing chief Joanna Hoffman.

The cast also includes Katherine Waterston as Jobs’ ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan and Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld, an original member of the Apple Macintosh development team. Additional cast members announced in the start-of-production press release include Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, Makenzie Moss, Sarah Snook, and Adam Shapiro.

According to Universal, Steve Jobs is “set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, the film takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.”
