Chad and Carey Hayes, writers of The Conjuring, are working on a new horror film titled The Crucifixion based on true events. The supernatural thriller will reunite the producers of Annabelle and The Conjuring with the Hayes writing team, with Xavier Gens (Hitman) attached to direct.

Lotus Entertainment will be introducing the project to international buyers at AFM. The Crucifixion will be produced by the Hayes brothers and Peter Safran. Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, D.J. Gugenheim, and Ara Keshishian are on board as executive producers.

Commenting on the new project, Lotus’ Jim Seibel stated, “Peter and the Hayes brothers have an amazing track record in the genre space, and we’re excited to be teaming up with them. We felt that a smart, edgy thriller like The Crucifixion combined with this amazing creative team had all the right ingredients to be a global box office hit.”

The Plot:

When a priest is jailed for the murder of a nun on whom he was performing an exorcism, an investigative journalist strives to determine whether he, in fact, murdered a mentally ill person or if he lost the battle with a demonic presence.
