Lionsgate, Triangular Entertainment, and Imagine Nation are teaming up to bring The Hunger Games to the stage. Strange as it sounds, a special theater’s being built by Wembley Stadium in London to accommodate The Hunger Games “theatrical experience,” with an eye on opening it to audiences in the summer of 2016.

Robin de Levita, Harvey Goldsmith, Warren Adams, Brandon Victor Dixon, Robert Harris, and Gary Ricci are producing the stage show.

“Robin de Levita and the entire production team are the perfect partners for extending The Hunger Games franchise into a live theatrical experience,” said Lionsgate Chief Marketing Officer Tim Palen. “Their creative genius, combined with world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology will provide a uniquely immersive experience for fans around the world.”

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with an innovative next generation studio like Lionsgate on a property that resonates so deeply with global audiences,” added DeLevita. “The theater is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life.”

The next chapter of The Hunger Games saga, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, opens in theaters on November 21, 2014. The final chapter, Mockingjay Part 2, arrives on November 20, 2015.
