Syfy officially announced it’s renewed The Magicians for a third season. The critically acclaimed fantasy series based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling book series has increased its ratings in season two over season one and has, according to Syfy, doubled its “run in social engagements across platforms.”

John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Chris Fisher, Michael London, and Janice Williams are the series’ executive producers. The season two cast includes Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, and Jade Tailor.

Season two’s penultimate episode airs on April 12, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT, with the season finale airing on April 19th. Season three will consist of 13 episodes and is expected to air in 2018.

The Plot: The Magicians centers on Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his 20-something friends as they are thrust into the unfamiliar world of the beautifully enchanting yet mysteriously dangerous Fillory – and places beyond – where they must draw upon their novice skills to save the existence of magic.
