Formed in 2010, Ashland HIGH is the name of the band from Trace Cyrus. Formerly of pop rock band Metro Station, Trace has taken his musical experience and put everything he knows into Ashland HIGH. Consisting of pop, dubstep, r&b, and rock, this project put Trace behind all aspects of the production, where he wrote the lyrics and sings all the vocals.

Trace has been recording songs as Ashland High for the past 2 years all around California, Canada, Nashville, and Venice Beach and has now made over 100 songs. All the songs from Geronimo were recorded at the end of Nov 2011 within 9 days at Trace’s home studio and were edited and put online 1 month later on New Year’s Eve.

The first single, “Jealous Lover,” is about a couple who miss out on true love. It is about how “it is so easy to always fight and be jealous when you should just be happy and in love,” says Cyrus.

Continuing to stay in touch with his fans while he worked on this new album, Trace has been busy working on his clothing line “Southern Made Hollywood Paid” since 2009, which features T-shirts, jackets, sunglasses, hats, and more. It was important for him to have a creative outlet, and he has always been passionate about fashion.

Trace’s love for art is one reason his entire body is covered in tattoos. “I have always had a love for fashion and the opportunity presented itself to have a clothing company of my own and I really wanted the name of it to represent me. That is why I decided on Southern Made Hollywood Paid. I feel it tells a lot about my life, my story, and me. I love any way to express myself and that’s why I started SMHP,” says Trace.

Growing up in the south in a town outside of Nashville, Tennessee, Trace moved to California when he was 16 years old but will also consider TN his home. Hollywood is where he met his band, started playing shows, and by the age of 17, had a record deal and a chance to tour the world. Music and fashion were always his two true passions in life and Hollywood really gave him the opportunity to meet the right people and allow him to live out his dreams.
