Paramount Pictures wants to make sure that if you didn’t get the chance to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon in all its IMAX glory when the film was first released, you’ll have a shot at seeing it (for the higher ticket price) before it exits theaters. The studio announced the third Transformers movie will get a two-week run in 246 IMAX theaters beginning August 26, 2011 and running through September 8th.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released on June 29th and has generated $1+ billion in worldwide box office receipts since hitting theaters. Of that amount, $59.6 was from IMAX screenings. Transformers: Dark of the Moon now sits in fifth place on the all-time biggest grossing films list, behind only Avatar, Titanic, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
