‘Tremors’ is Revived as a Syfy Series Starring Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon is going back to battling gigantic sand worms known as Graboids in Syfy’s Tremors. The network’s officially announced they’ve ordered a Tremors pilot with Bacon confirmed to star. Bacon’s also executive producing the new series inspired by the 1990 film, along with Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) and David Schiff (Southpaw). Miller’s attached as writer and showrunner.

“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years?” said Bacon. “Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”

“We are so pleased to continue our partnership with SYFY and UCP in reviving this cult classic with none other than Kevin Bacon as Valentine McKee; we look forward to thrilling original fans and new audiences alike,” stated Blumhouse founder, Jason Blum.

There’s no word yet if any other familiar faces from the world of Tremors will show up in the television series. The original Tremors starring Kevin Bacon was released on January 19, 1990 and made $16.6 million domestically during its theatrical run before going on to become a cult classic on DVD. It spawned a series of straight-to-DVD sequels, none of which starred Kevin Bacon.

The Plot: The killer Graboid worms that nearly destroyed Perfection, Nevada 25 years ago are back, and the town’s only hope for survival is Valentine McKee (Bacon) who beat them once. But to do it again he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.
