Showtime Makes ‘Fire Walk With Me’ Available Prior to ‘Twin Peaks’ Premiere

Twin Peaks TV Series

Showtime’s going full in on their Twin Peaks revival, announcing today they will begin making Fire Walk With Me available to subscribers as of March 1, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT. Fire Walk With Me is David Lynch’s original film set prior to the events of the first two seasons of Twin Peaks which aired in 1990-1991. The film received a mixed reaction from critics when it was released in August 1992, with Village Voice proclaiming it David Lynch’s masterpiece while Vincent Canby of the New York Times said it “appears to be an undifferentiated mess of story lines and hallucinations.”

The first two seasons of Twin Peaks are currently available to Showtime subscribers. The new season of Twin Peaks will premiere on May 21, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT.

Fire Walk With me focuses on the seven days leading up to Laura Palmer’s brutal murder. The 2017 Twin Peaks 18-part limited event series “picks up twenty-five years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) was shockingly murdered.” The cast includes Kyle MacLachlan (Portlandia) , Madchen Amick (Riverdale), Laura Dern (Big Little Lies), Robert Forster (Divorce), Miguel Ferrer (NCIS: Los Angeles), and Kimmy Robertson. David Lynch and Mark Frost created and wrote the series, and Lynch directed every episode as well as executive produced along with Frost and Sabrina S. Sutherland.
