Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne Star in ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’

Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Kill Your Darlings) and Cara Delevingne (Paper Towns) have begun work on their starring roles in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets based on artist Jean-Claude Mézières and writer Pierre Christin’s science fiction comic series. Luc Besson penned the script and is directing the sci-fi thriller which is currently shooting in Paris. Besson’s directing credits include Lucy, The Lady, Angel-A, The Fifth Element, The Professional, and La Femme Nikita.


The cast also includes Clive Owen (The Knick), Rihanna, Ethan Hawke (Boyhood), Herbie Hancock, and Kris Wu (Mr. Six). The film’s being financed by Fundamental Films, BNP Paribas, Orange, Universum Film, Gulf Film, River Road Entertainment, Belga Films and TF1 Films Production. EuropaCorp’s Virginie Besson-Silla is producing.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is targeting a July 21, 2017 theatrical release.

The Plot: Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe.
