GKIDS and Studio Ghibli revealed the English language voice cast for When Marnie Was There from director Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty) and based on the children’s book by Joan G. Robinson. Hailee Steinfeld and Kiernan Shipka lead the voice cast that includes Kathy Bates, Ellen Burstyn, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, John C. Reilly, Raini Rodriguez, and Vanessa Williams.
GKIDS has set a May 22, 2015 release date in New York and Los Angeles and will open the animated movie in other cities at later dates.
The Plot: When Marnie Was There follows a troubled 12-year-old named Anna who finds herself drawn to an abandoned house. It’s there where she encounters a mysterious young woman named Marnie.
