Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for the action adventure film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold. The new minute and a half trailer finds Dora the Explorer struggling to fit in at high school. Fortunately, she’s able to escape to a much less treacherous environment – the jungle.
The cast is led by Isabela Moner (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) in the title role, with Michael Peña and Eva Longoria playing Dora’s parents. Eugenio Derbez (How to Be A Latin Lover) is Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders. Jeff Wahlberg (Future World) plays cousin Diego; Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids: Mission Control) is Randy, a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora; Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock) plays the school’s snooty class president, Sammy; Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel) is Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie; and Temuera Morrison (Moana) is Powell.
Emmy nominee James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords) directed the first live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer. Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson wrote the screenplay from a story by Stoller and Tom Wheeler. Kristin Burr produced, and Julia Pistor, Eugenio Derbez, and John G. Scotti executive produced.
The behind the scenes team includes production designer Dan Hennah, costume designer Rahel Afiley, cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe, film editor Mark Everson, and VFX supervisor Andy Brown.
Paramount Pictures has set an August 9, 2019 theatrical release date.
The Plot:
“Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Longoria, Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.”
Netflix announced they’ve renewed The Society for a second season, sharing the news via a video featuring the season one cast. The cast cheers the news of a season two and promises more pie, more fugitives, and more answers about Becca’s baby daddy and Grizz’s hair.
Netflix didn’t provide a plot description for season two, however they did confirm it won’t arrive until 2020. Filming’s expected to begin later this year.
Chris Keyser is confirmed to return as showrunner. Keyser will also executive produce with Marc Webb.
A Look Back at The Society Season One Plot and Characters:
“The Society follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town without any trace of their parents. Their newfound freedom will be fun… but it will also be very dangerous. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.”
Kathryn Newton plays “Allie,” who has lived her entire life in the shadow of her more remarkable older sister Cassandra. Whatever Allie’s strengths are, she has very little sense of them. Allie inspires her sister to take charge of the group as they are thrust in to the mysterious new world.
Rachel Keller (Legion, Fargo) plays the role of “Cassandra.” She’s popular and the most impressive amongst her peers, and they all know it. A natural leader, she is the longtime rival of Harry. If she has one person she loves most in the world, it’s her sister, Allie.
Gideon Adlon (Blockers, Mustang) plays “Becca,” who is mature, tough and adventurous, yet always on the outside looking in. She’s the daughter of a single, alcoholic mother and in order to keep the rest of the world at bay, she hides behind her camera, viewing the world with a reporter’s eye.
Jacques Colimon (Duat) plays the role of “Will.” Will is a foster kid and a true orphan. He’s an outsider in West Ham who finds his natural social disadvantages disappearing in New Ham.
Olivia DeJonge (The Visit) has been cast as “Elle.” A dancer, she is brittle from living in the obsessive, cruel world of dance. Her fear and uncertainty in this new world leaves her susceptible and vulnerable to those who don’t have her best interest in mind. She will struggle to find her own self in this dangerous frontier. Whether she finds salvation or, like those to whom evil is done, comes to do evil in return, only time will tell.
Alex Fitzalan (Slenderman) plays “Harry.” The epitome of privilege, he’s handsome, wealthy, ambitious and, in almost every other way, entirely unremarkable. Harry finds himself the leader of the roughly half of the population that would choose to recreate, in the New World, an exact replica of the world they left behind.
Kristine Froseth (Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, Apostle) plays “Kelly,” the Queen Bee of West Ham. She’s smart and has a firm moral compass. But now that the rules have been rewritten, she may well take the opportunity to rewrite herself as well. In doing so, she finds herself torn between the old high school hierarchy and the new world order.
Jose Julian (A Better Life, Shameless) plays tech wiz “Gordie.” Smart and grounded, he proves to be indispensable in the new world. He secretly pines for Cassandra. When he learns about her health issues, he vows to teach himself basic medicine so he’s prepared should crisis strike.
Natasha Liu Bordizzo plays “Helena.” All of her certainty – about her boyfriend Luke, about God – masks her deep-seated uncertainty. More confident in Luke’s ability to lead the town than Luke himself, Helena finds herself stepping into that role in the face of conflict.
Alex MacNicoll (Transparent, Backseat) plays “Luke,” the high school quarterback, and built like one. His girlfriend pushes him to be a leader, but he’s much more content with being a supporter.
Jack Mulhern (Locke & Key) is “Grizz,” a jock with a poetic side. Incredibly smart, he becomes important to the power struggles and game of survival in the new world.
Salena Qureshi (Madam Secretary) plays “Bean.”
Grace Victoria Cox (Heathers, Under the Dome) plays “Lexie.” Quirky and slightly unpredictable, Lexie comes into her own in the political arena of New Ham.
Sean Berdy (Switched at Birth) and Toby Wallace (Romper Stomper) play the roles of “Sam” and “Campbell,” respectively. Sam and Campbell are brothers and cousins to Cassandra and Allie. Sam is sweet, sensitive, and funny. Born deaf, he is painfully aware of the unfair vicissitudes of fate. His brother, Campbell, is a sociopath, insecure and angry at the attention his brother’s “difference” has stolen from him.
Joanna tries to hunt down a murderer in The CW’s Burden of Truth season two episode seven. The episode titled “Never Face the Hangman” and directed by Doug Mitchell from a script by Eric Putzer will air on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT.
The second season stars Kristin Kreuk as Joanna Chang (formerly Hanley), Peter Mooney as Billy Crawford, Star Slade as Luna, Jessica Matten as Gerrilyn, and Sarah Thompson as Molly.
The “Never Face the Hangman” Plot – JOANNA RACES AGAINST TIME TO PROVE HER CLIENT’S INNOCENCE – On the eve of the murder trial, Joanna (Kreuk) reaches out to an old client when she discovers a new piece of evidence that will lead her to the identity of the real killer. Billy (Mooney) attempts to get help for Shane (Andrew Chown), but is forced to make an agonizing choice.
The Plot:
Burden of Truth is a serialized investigative drama about life-altering legal cases, the helpless plaintiffs searching for answers, and the boots-on-the-ground lawyers fighting incredible odds to deliver justice.
Attorney Joanna Hanley (Kreuk) leaves her picture-perfect legal career as a partner in a corporate law firm to solve the case of a mysterious illness affecting the female high school students of her hometown Millwood in Manitoba – a prairie town with an industrial past and an uncertain future. She joins her former high school nemesis, local attorney Billy Crawford (Mooney), to find the source of the illness and win justice for the girls.
Billy and Joanna will have to put aside their resentments and opposing legal styles to find the answers they seek. Joanna also realizes there’s not just a legal investigation waiting for her in Millwood, but a personal one. She starts investigating herself just as she would a case, beginning with her darkest family secret: the reason her family was forced to suddenly leave town.
Burden of Truth explores human relationships in the context of a legal mystery, highlighting the stress and impact on the investigators fighting a case that might come to nothing, and the danger of a growing illness that they may never be able to identify or cure.
CBS’s Elementary inches closer to the series’ finale with season seven episode eight, “Miss Understood.” Episode eight was directed by Michael Smith from a script by Bob Goodman and will air on July 11, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT.
The “Miss Understood” guest cast includes Allie Ioannides, Joseph Lyle Taylor, Marjan Neshat, Christa Scott-Reed, and Charles Borland. Matthew Boston, William Hill, Tramell Tillman, Michael Satow, Kelsey Rainwater, and James Murtaugh also guest star.
The cast of Elementary is led by Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Joan Watson. Aidan Quinn is Captain Tommy Gregson, Jon Michael Hill is Detective Marcus Bell, and James Frain plays Odin Reichenbach. Virginia Madsen and Jordan Gelber appear in recurring roles as Paige and M.E. Hawes.
“Miss Understood” Plot – Holmes and Watson search for an ulterior motive when Cassie Lenue (Allie Ioannides), a brilliant young criminal they helped put in prison, seeks their help in solving a murder.
The Elementary Plot:
“Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as Detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases. Initially sober companion and client, Holmes and Watson’s relationship evolved into a symbiotic professional investigative partnership. Once the top homicide consultants for Captain Thomas Gregson, they worked regularly alongside Detective Marcus Bell before Holmes’ false confession to a murder he did not commit forced them to move to London.
Holmes and Watson forge new careers in England as consultants for Scotland Yard until they receive news that a member of their inner circle has been gravely wounded in the United States. As Holmes’ stateside legal trouble threatens to keep them from returning to New York, their greatest foe to date, tech billionaire Odin Reichenbach waits on the horizon to test their limits.”
Syfy’s popular comic book-inspired series, Krypton, continues season two with episode five titled “A Better Yesterday.” Episode five will air on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT.

Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) play Jayna-Zod, Aaron Pierre (Britannia) is Dev-Em, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) is Kem, Wallis Day (Will) is Nyssa-Vex, Blake Ritson (Da Vinci’s Demons) is Brainiac, and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) plays Val-El.
“A Better Yesterday” Plot: Amidst a hostage negotiation that could end the war on Krypton, Seg seeks answers about Lyta.
Krypton Series Details, Courtesy of Syfy:
“What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, as a young man who fights to save his home planet from destruction. Season 2 brings us back to a changed Kandor, locked in a battle over its freedom and its future.
General Dru-Zod (Salmon) is now in control. He’s on a ruthless mission to rebuild Krypton according to his ideals and to secure its future by conquering the universe. Faced with a bleak outlook, our hero, Seg-El, attempts to unite a dispersed group of resisters in an effort to defeat Zod and restore hope to their beloved planet. Their chance at redemption is threatened however, by their opposing tactics, shifting alliances and conflicting moral boundaries – forcing each of them to individually determine how far they’re willing to go in pursuit of a better tomorrow.”

There’s a clip in the first full official trailer for Judy in which the legendary Judy Garland (played by Renee Zellweger) is asked if she takes anything for depression. She replies, “Four husbands. Didn’t work.” Amid the scenes of Judy on stage and Judy struggling to deal with financial debt that separates her from her children, that self-deprecating exchange stands out.
In addition to Oscar winner Renee Zellweger (Cold Mountain), the cast includes Jessie Buckley as Rosalyn Wilder, Finn Wittrock as Mickey Deans, Rufus Sewell as Sidney Luft, and Michael Gambon as Bernard Delfont. Rupert Goold (True Story) directed from a screenplay by Tom Edge.
Roadside Attractions and LD Entertainment have set a September 27, 2019 theatrical release date.
“I had always wanted to make a film that explores great performance and its cost. The most fertile ground for such exploration seemed to be at the end of a lifetime of performance,” explained director Rupert Goold. “For over 40 years Judy Garland had laughed and loved and entertained no matter what life threw at her, and her public adored her for it. But she paid a price in a childhood lost to Hollywood, an emotional exhaustion and a yearning for a ‘normal’ life beyond the rainbow. It is a powerful and moving story that I hope will inspire new audiences to discover Judy Garland’s joyous legacy.
The Plot:
“Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform a five-week sold-out run at The Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in The Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of love seem undimmed as she embarks on a whirlwind romance with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband.
Featuring some of her best-known songs, the film celebrates the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of ‘the world’s greatest entertainer.'”
Disney’s new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil begins with a marriage proposal and a very happy Princess Aurora. Unfortunately, Maleficent is quick to put a damper on Aurora’s excitement. Maleficent warns Aurora love doesn’t always end well. “Trust me. Let us prove you wrong,” replies Princess Aurora.
The impending marriage sets up a power struggle between Maleficent and Queen Ingrith after the Queen suggests Maleficent’s time as mother to Aurora has come to an end.
Angelina Jolie reprises her role as Maleficent and Elle Fanning returns as Princess Aurora. The cast also includes Michelle Pfeiffer (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Queen Ingrith, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Sam Riley (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) as Diaval, Harris Dickinson (Trust) as Prince Phillip, Ed Skrein (Kill Your Friends), Imelda Staunton (the Harry Potter films) as Knotgrass, Juno Temple (Dirty John) as Thistlewit, and Lesley Manville (Harlots) as Flittle.
Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directs from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue, and Noah Harpster (story by Woolverton). Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson produced, and Matt Smith, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Michael Vieira executive produced.
The behind the scenes team includes director of photography Henry Braham, editors Laura Jennings and Craig Wood, production designer Patrick Tatopoulos, and costume designer Ellen Mirojnick.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to hit theaters nationwide on October 18, 2019.
The Plot:
“The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds.
When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.”
