Smash star Megan Hilty has signed on to star in TV Land’s I Shudder pilot set to film in October in New York. Also joining the pilot cast are John Behlmann, Geneva Carr, and Brooklyn Shuck, all of whom will be starring alongside previously cast member Hamish Linklater. The series is based on Paul Rudnick’s book I Shudder: And Other Reactions to Life, Death, and New Jersey, with Rudnick writing and executive producing the pilot. Pushing Daisies‘ Dan Jinks is also on board as an executive producer.

The Plot: “I Shudder is a comedy revolving around Elyot Vionnet, an advocate of manners, style and most importantly, common decency. Observing people committing heinous crimes of etiquette, he tries to counsel them from afar, inserting himself into their lives most unwelcomely. When the individuals he deems classless choose not to take his advice, they are met with terrible consequences. Elyot joins forces with his young neighbor Stella to try to make the world better, one tactless person at a time.”

Hamish Linklater is set to play Elyot Vionnet with Megan Hilty and John Behlmann cast as Sara and Drake Morell, the parents of 11 year old Stella (Brooklyn Shuck). Geneva Carr will play Susan Marie, Elyot’s other neighbor who is described as “unpleasant and self-righteous.”

There’s no word yet on when I Shudder will debut on TV Land.

NBC has set a December 10, 2015 premiere date for Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. The holiday special will air at 9pm ET/PT and is based on Dolly Parton’s childhood and stars Alyvia Alyn Lind as a nine year-old Dolly. Jennifer Nettles is set to play Dolly’s mother and Ricky Schroder will be playing Dolly’s father. Gerard McRaney has been cast as Dolly’s grandfather, Jake Owens.

Pamela K. Long wrote the script and serves as an executive producer along with Dolly Parton and Sam Haskell. Filming is expected to get underway this week in Atlanta.

The Plot:

Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors is based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today.

The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor musical about Dolly’s whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family’s life around the time she was nine years old.

Josh Groban Sings Donald Trump’s Tweets

Josh Groban Sings Donald Trump's Tweets

Jimmy Kimmel says if you want to be taken seriously as an artist it’s important to have great lyrics. To prove his point, Kimmel brought in angel-voiced singer Josh Groban to sing Donald Trump’s tweets. Yes, you read that right. Josh Groban sat down at the piano and sang tweets by Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.

Among the tweets selected were Trump’s love/hate relationship with Macy’s, his high IQ, losers and haters, Obama’s birth certificate, Kristen Stewart cheating on Robert Pattinson, and the need for global warming. As Groban says, “Donald Trump’s tweets will make you laugh, they’ll make you cry…but mostly they’ll make you cry.”

Comedy Central Renews ‘Another Period’ for Season Two

Another Period Renewed for Season 2
Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome star in ‘Another Period’ (Photo Credit: Comedy Central)

Comedy Central has given Another Period an order for a 10-episode second season as just announced by Comedy Central’s President of Original Programming Kent Alterman. The series was created by Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, executive producers, writers, and stars of the half hour comedy. Ben Stiller, Jeremy Konner, Debbie Liebling, Stuart Cornfeld, and Mike Rosenstein also executive produce the series.

Season two will air in 2016. Season one is airing on Tuesday nights at 10:30pm ET/PT.

Another Period is a beautiful reflection of a great American truth: the more things change, the more they stay the same,” stated Alterman.

“We are thrilled that Comedy Central has such good taste,” added Leggero and Lindhome.

The Plot:

Before others claimed their fame, there was one American family that stood for all that was spoiled, shameless and stupid. Meet the Bellacourts – Newport, RI’s First Family of the Gilded Age. They have tons of money, live in a big-ass mansion and employ a whole team of Fonzworth Bentleys.

However, the Bellacourts’ servants have to do a lot more than hold umbrellas. Another Period centers on the Bellacourt sisters, Lillian (Leggero) and Beatrice (Lindhome), who only care about being rich and becoming super famous (which is a lot harder in 1902).

Lauren Ash, Michael Ian Black, Paget Brewster, Beth Dover, Brett Gelman, Christina Hendricks, Brian Huskey, David Koechner, Jason Ritter, David Wain and Armen Weitzman appear alongside Leggero and Lindhome. Guest stars for the series’ first season include Matt Besser, Jack Black, Jon Daly, John Ennis, Kate Flannery, Rich Fulcher, Tim Heidecker, Moshe Kasher, Lauren Lapkus, Thomas Lennon, Kate Micucci, Chris Parnell, Lou Diamond Phillips, Missi Pyle, Will Sasso, Betsy Sodaro, Shoshannah Stern, Ben Stiller, Stephen Tobolowsky and Brian White.
