Starz is teasing the upcoming horror series Ash vs Evil Dead with a new poster and a very short trailer that gives absolutely nothing away about the series. Based on the Evil Dead films and executive produced by the Evil Dead team of Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, Ash vs Evil Dead finds Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless playing a mysterious figure, Jill Marie Jones as a disgraced Michigan State Trooper, and Ray Santiago as Ash’s sidekick.
Filming will be taking place in New Zealand, and the 10 episode season one will premiere later this year.
Raimi co-wrote episode one with Ivan Raimi, Craig DiGregorio, and Tom Spezialy. Raimi’s also directing episode one. DiGregorio is also on board as executive producer and showrunner.
The Plot:
Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
