‘American Horror Story’ Renewed for Season Four

American Horror Story Renewed For Season 4

In another not at all shocking bit of renewal news, American Horror Story has been picked up for season four. The horror series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has earned another season after posting series-record numbers over its third season run. American Horror Story: Coven has been averaging 7.7 million viewers which is up 77% over the first season and 83% over season two.

If it keeps up the viewership numbers over its next nine episodes, American Horror Story: Coven will become FX’s most-watched series in the adults 18-34 bracket.

“Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer,” said John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions. “Time and time again he reinvents the form. What he, co-creator Brad Falchuk and their producers Dante Di Loreto, Tim Minear, Jennifer Salt, James Wong, Brad Buecker, Jessica Sharzer, Douglas Petrie, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Alexis Martin Woodall, and the entire production team and cast responsible for the American Horror Story franchise have done is nothing short of extraordinary. Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries. AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.”

Details on American Horror Story: Coven

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

The cast also includes Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Denis O’Hare, Jamie Brewer, Alexander Dreymon, Josh Hamilton, Patti LuPone, and Danny Huston.

PBS’s winter holiday schedule includes the return of The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Christmas!, an Elmo Christmas special, and new episodes of Thomas & Friends and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT CHRISTMAS! – Airs on November 27, 28, 29, 30 and December 1, 13 and 24

A PBS KIDS holiday tradition, this adventure finds the Cat in the Hat, Nick and Sally on a journey around the world to help a lost reindeer find his way home to Freezeyourknees Snowland in time for Christmas. On the way, the Thinga-ma-jigger breaks down, and they depend on a variety of animals – from African bush elephants to bottlenose dolphins to red crabs – and their remarkable abilities to help them make an amazing journey home. With gorgeous animation and pull-out-all-the-stops musical numbers, The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Christmas! will have families singing and celebrating all season long.

PBS KIDS Holiday Week – December 9-13

This December, PBS Kids will air a week of holiday and winter-themed programming from favorite series across the schedule. “Holiday Week” features two episode premieres, both from Thomas & Friends: “Snow Stops Play” and “Tinsel & Trains.” Holiday Week also includes encore presentations of holiday-themed episodes from favorite PBS Kids series and holiday favorites Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas and Arthur’s Perfect Christmas.

CURIOUS GEORGE: A Very Monkey Christmas – Airs on December 9, 14, and 25

Curious George and The Man with the Yellow Hat are having a wonderful time getting ready for Christmas. There’s only one dilemma – neither of them can figure out what to give the other for a present! In the end, both gift-giving predicaments are simply and beautifully resolved, revealing the true spirit of the holiday season.

ARTHUR’S PERFECT CHRISTMAS – Airs on December 10 and 25

Everyone’s favorite aardvark gives kids a new spin on seasonal traditions in his first one-hour primetime special, showing children many ways to celebrate “the holidays.” Plans are underway in Elwood City for the best holidays ever as Arthur, D.W., their family and friends make preparations for perfect gifts, perfect parties and perfect family traditions for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and even “Baxter Day” (Buster and his mom’s special celebration). The only problem is, just like real life, perfection is hard to attain and things start to fall apart.

DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD

Snowflake Day! – Premieres on November 25

In this thirty-minute holiday musical episode, the Neighborhood is celebrating Snowflake Day! Daniel has a very important role as the snowflake in the Neighborhood’s Snowflake Day Show and he can’t wait to say his lines! The Enchanted Garden is full of excitement and winter cheer as everyone pitches in to make the celebration a true Neighborhood success!

A Snowy Day – Premieres on December 2

It’s snowing in the Neighborhood! Miss Elaina is coming over to Daniel’s house to play in the snow. When it’s time to go outside, Mom Tiger helps Daniel change out of his pajamas into clothes that will keep him warm and he learns how important it is to choose the proper clothes.

Elmo’s Christmas Countdown – Premieres on November 27, repeats on December 11 and 25

There’s a miracle on Sesame Street in this special holiday tale. Elmo, Abby Cadabby and their new friend Stiller the Elf (voice of Ben Stiller) are going to count down to Christmas with the Christmas Counter-Downer. But all the counting boxes have gone missing and Christmas may never come again! Can Elmo, Abby and Stiller the Elf save Christmas? With the help of very special guests Sheryl Crow, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Ty Pennington, Steve Schirripa, Tony Sirico and Kevin James (as Santa Claus), Elmo and friends learn to believe in Christmas miracles.

SHALOM SESAME – Chanukah: The Missing Menorah – Check local listings for air dates

Moishe Oofnik is selling 2,000 year old sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts traditionally eaten on Chanukah), and Anneliese is bringing her family’s menorah to light at Shoshana’s in celebration of the first night of Chanukah. Grover the waiter is serving levivot (potato pancakes or latkes), when he and Anneliese are both startled by Brosh and a chicken. Anneliese’s menorah (a nine-branched candelabrum) goes flying. Anneliese can’t find her menorah anywhere, so everyone helps her look. The pressure is on to find it before sunset, and everyone sings a song about the search. Finally, Avigail finds it and everyone heads inside to light the candles. In the end, the Sumsum crew lights the menorah together and sings a song.

Netflix Sets Season 2 ‘Lilyhammer’ Premiere Date and Unveils a Trailer

Lilyhammer Poster Season 2

Netflix will debut the second season of Lilyhammer on December 13, 2013 at 12:01am PT. And as with all of Netflix’s original programming, all eight episodes of the comedy series starring Steven Van Zandt will be available on Dec. 13th.

“The second season of Lilyhammer is an amped-up ride that gives us Steven Van Zandt at his glorious, baddest, best,” said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix. “Whether you enjoyed season one or are catching it for the first time, Lilyhammer is a mob show like no other.”

The Plot: Lilyhammer follows former gangster Frank “The Fixer” Tagliano (Van Zandt) as he enters the federal witness protection program trading the mean streets of New York for the icy fjords of Norway, forging a new life among the locals of Lillehammer. Season two continues with Frank living under the alias of Johnny Henriksen, a successful nightclub owner and father of two. As if life couldn’t get more complicated than balancing fatherhood with running a criminal operation, everything Frank cares for is threatened when his former mob associates find out he is still alive.

FX Sets ‘Justified’ and ‘Archer’ 2014 Premiere Dates

FX has confirmed 2014 premiere dates for returning series Justified, Archer, and The Americans, as well as the new animated series Chozen which moved from FXX to FX and will air after Archer. In addition, FXX will pair up Ali G: Rezurection with Legit beginning in February 2004.

“Winter has become an incredibly active time for the launch of original series for FX Networks,” said Chuck Saftler, President of Program Strategy and COO, FX Networks. “FXX provides us with greater scheduling flexibility and our recent deal for Ali G: Rezurection created a strategic opportunity to pair it with Legit, two compatible shows that will play very well together. This allows us the opportunity to use Archer – our highest-rated comedy – as a powerful launch springboard for Chozen and help us build our animation brand.”

Justified – Season 5 Returns on January 7, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT

The Details: This season, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) confronts the Crowes, a deadly, lawless family from Florida intent on settling in Harlan with new criminal enterprises in mind. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) struggles to free his imprisoned fiancée Ava (Joelle Carter) as he partners with the Dixie Mafia’s Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns). The series stars Emmy Award nominated Timothy Olyphant as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Series co-stars are Emmy Award nominated Walton Goggins, Nick Searcy, Joelle Carter, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel, and Jere Burns.

Archer – Season 5 Premieres on January 13, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT

The Details: Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS) and the lives of its employees. Although their work of espionage, reconnaissance missions, wiretapping and undercover surveillance is daunting and dangerous, every covert operation and global crisis is actually just another excuse for the ISIS staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain. The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Adam Reed, and Lucky Yates.

Chozen – Season 1 Debuts on January 13, 2014 at 10:30pm ET/PT

The Details: Chozen is an animated comedy about its title character, “Chozen,” a gay white rapper fresh out of prison. Armed with a new message, Chozen is on a quest for redemption and to claim his rightful position as the world’s top rap artist. His music and lyrics take aim at the stereotypes of machismo and misogyny that is synonymous with rap music. And his new world view has been shaped by his time in prison. The voice cast features Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress, Michael Pena, Nick Swardson, Kathryn Hahn, and Method Man.

Legit – Season 2 Kicks Off in February on FXX

The Details: Legit, which aired on FX in its inaugural season, was one of the most critically acclaimed new comedies this year. Jim Jefferies, who co-created the series with Peter O’Fallon, stars as an edgy, foul mouthed stand-up comedian from Australia, in his mid-30s and living in LA, struggling to make his life and career more “legit,” only to find it a difficult, uncomfortable uphill struggle every step of the way. Jim is encouraged in his quest by Steve, his neurotic best friend and roommate, a cyber law library salesman who struggles to stay on his feet in the wake of a divorce, and Steve’s brother, Billy, who suffers from advanced staged Muscular Dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair. Legit stars Jim Jefferies as Jim, Dan Bakkedahl as Steve, and DJ Qualls as Billy.

Ali G: Rezurection – On FXX in February

The Details: Ali G: Rezurection includes every episode of Da Ali G Show with new, original introductions starring Baron Cohen, along with the BAFTA Award winning English episodes of Da Ali G Show that never aired on American television and The Best of Ali G. Da Ali G Show debuted on Channel 4 in the U.K. in 2003. A character created by Baron Cohen, Ali G originated on Channel 4’s The 11 O’clock Show and was spun off into Da Ali G Show. Baron Cohen produced 18 episodes, with 12 of those episodes airing on HBO in the U.S. Alongside the eponymous Ali G, Da Ali G Show also features the much beloved Borat and Bruno characters, both of whom later headlined critically-acclaimed feature films.

‘Treme’ Final Season Episode Details and Trailer

Treme Final Episodes
Wendell Pierce stars in ‘Treme’ (Photo by Paul Schiraldi / HBO)

HBO’s final season of the critically acclaimed drama Treme returns for its last five episodes on December 1, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT. Created by David Simon and Eric Overmyer (The Wire), the cast includes Wendell Pierce, Khandi Alexander, Clarke Peters, Rob Brown, Steve Zahn, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Lucia Micarelli, Michiel Huisman, David Morse, Jon Seda, India Ennenga, and Chris Coy.

The Plot:

New Orleans, 38 months after Hurricane Katrina: Barack Obama has just been elected to the White House, giving this battered, majority-black city reason for optimism. Yet for every entrenched resident who hopes to improve his or her lot – or just return to a sense of pre-Katrina normalcy – others are intent on capitalizing on the city’s vulnerability and suffocating its culture.

Beginning in Nov. 2008 and culminating at Mardi Gras 2009, the new season revisits the musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians and other familiar New Orleanians who continue to rebuild their lives, their homes, and their culture in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane that caused the near-death of an American city.

Heightened by a historic presidential election, the promise of economic and cultural recovery in New Orleans is tempered by sobering economics, continued police corruption and the ongoing specter of violence and crime. More than three years after the flooding that followed Hurricane Katrina, nothing in the civic firmament seems to work as it should. New Orleanians are subject to corrupt and brutal law enforcement, a fragile school system and economic priorities that almost willfully exclude the people who need help.

But one thing works: the culture.

In this improbable city, which is responsible for some of America’s greatest cultural gifts, the protagonists of TREME can rely on little, other than a sense of what they can, and must, create that gives life in New Orleans power and value. Here, the multiculturalism that has created and sustained the Crescent City – a blend that is French and Caribbean, Spanish and African-American and American – is a value embraced and understood by those who can’t imagine living anywhere else. By such currency, New Orleans keeps its people committed to it, despite the odds.

This season, as one major character bravely faces his mortality, others look to make headway in careers, relationships and artistic endeavors, all amidst hope that an Obama administration will bring renewed attention and financial aid to New Orleans. The results are mixed, as opportunities end up in the hands of outsiders looking for quick financial gain, while the guardians of the flame struggle to make their voices heard over the din of construction and local politics.

BBC One has officially unveiled the first photo from season three of Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue with Gatiss, Moffat, Beryl Vertue, Bethan Jones, and Rebecca Eaton executive producing.

“It’s been a long time since Sherlock Holmes jumped off that roof – it’s time to reveal the truth about what happened between him and the pavement,” offered Moffat on what fans can expect from this next season.

“Sherlock and John Watson are back at last! And they’re just where we want them – on the streets of London having mad, thrilling adventures,” added Gatiss.

The Plot: The question on everyone’s lips will finally be answered when Sherlock returns with three brand-new action-packed adventures. How did he do it? And how will John take the news that his best friend faked his own death? What will Sherlock think when he finds out John has fallen in love with Mary Morstan? She’s sensible, quick-witted, and not at all taken in by Sherlock’s posturing. Once again, the game is on for Sherlock and John in the first episode of the new series, “The Empty Hearse” written by Mark Gatiss.
