Lifetime’s debuting a new docuseries about aspiring Country singers called Chasing Nashville on October 22, 2013 at 10pm PT/ET. The network’s ordered nine one-hour-long episodes of the show from executive producers Steven Miller, Justin Green, Adam Reed, Adam Freeman, Leslie Greif, Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Kimberly Chessler, and Abigail Harvey.

The Plot:

Through extensive access to the home and budding professional lives of four ambitious teen singers from Appalachia, the series will follow the high drama and competition they encounter like no other singing show as they, and their equally determined families, lay everything on the line in pursuit of fame and fortune in country music.

For decades, countless hopeful young singers have struggled to fight their way from the hollers of Appalachia for the opportunity to be plucked from obscurity and rise to the top of the music charts. Many have tried, while only a select few have succeeded. Chasing Nashville delves into the real lives of these four young singers as they embark on the uncertain path thousands of others have sought for the rare chance at securing a recording contract.

The pressure mounts onstage as they are coached and recruited for high-profile showcases by some of country’s best scouts, including renowned Grammy-winning producer Keith Thomas (Trisha Yearwood’s You’re Where I Belong) and respected writer/producer Deanna Walker (The Dixie Chicks). But behind these budding stars are their cutthroat stage moms and dads who take competition seriously – maybe too seriously – as family dreams ride on their daughter’s success. The girls are committed to make a better life for themselves by attempting to scale to the top of the mountain in the music world.

The Chasing Nashville Cast:

– Autumn Blair: A true coal-miners daughter, Autumn hails from one of the back hollers of West Virginia and is related to country great, Loretta Lynn.

– Helena Hunt: From Clyde, North Carolina, Helena lives in an actual log cabin and is known for her incredible music talent, including her prowess while playing the banjo.

– Lauren Marie Presley: Originally from Red Water, Texas, Lauren’s single mother puts everything behind her daughter’s dream while constantly reminding her that she may be related to the legendary Elvis Presley.

– Savannah Little: From Pikeville, Kentucky, Savannah comes in tow with a mom who manages every aspect of her career and spares no expense to ensure that she shines.

– Kentucky-based music talents Julia Knight from Lexington, Celeste Turner of Prestonsburg, and Tyra Short from Pine Top.

ABC Family has landed Rosie O’Donnell for a recurring role in The Fosters starring Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Jake T. Austin, Hayden Byerly, David Lambert, Maia Mitchell, Danny Nucci, and Cierra Ramirez. The drama series was created by Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige, with Jennifer Lopez involved as an executive producer.

In the upcoming 2014 season, O’Donnell will play Rita Hendricks, a character described as a “tough yet compassionate woman who works in the foster care system and becomes a mentor to a member of the Foster family.” The network says O’Donnell’s character will have a three-episode arc.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful, heartwarming show. My kids and I never miss it,” said O’Donnell about being involved in the series.

“When Rosie O’Donnell tweeted that she loved The Fosters, we knew we had to reach out and try to snap her up! Having witnessed her support of foster children and blended families, we knew she would be a perfect fit for the show,” said Paige and Bredeweg.

The Plot:

The Fosters is a compelling, one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms. Stef Foster, a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams Foster, a school Vice Principal, have built a close-knit, loving family with Stef’s biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon, and their adopted twins Mariana and Jesus.

Their lives are disrupted in unexpected ways when Lena meets Callie, a guarded teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in and out of foster homes. Lena and Stef warily welcome Callie and her younger brother Jude into their home hoping to provide them with the guidance and nurturing they so desperately need.

Over time, Callie and Jude open up about losing their parents and the hardships they suffered while in previous foster homes. Callie grows especially close to Brandon, but their mutual attraction causes jealousy and concern since foster children are not allowed to have intimate relationships in the same household. When Callie finally gives in to those feelings, she jeopardizes Stef and Lena’s offer to make her and Jude a permanent part of the family. Not wanting to ruin Jude’s chances of finally finding a stable, loving home, Callie runs away.

Kids with peanut allergies, drug addictions, dirty mouths, hoop dreams when they can’t play the sport, and insomnia… All these issues and more can be blamed on Samuel L. Jackson. Yes, it is all Mr. Jackson’s fault that his movies have caused children to develop major – even life-threatening – problems.

But Jackson does have a workable solution: If his face is on the poster, maybe kids shouldn’t watch the movie.
