The deals are in place and Fox’s The X Factor season three’s judging panel will be made up of three women and Simon Cowell. Fox just confirmed Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) and Paulina Rubio will be joining Cowell and Demi Lovato to judge and mentor singers on the next season of The X Factor.

“It’s taken more than a decade, but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!). Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel,” stated Cowell. “It just feels like the time to do something different.”

“I am very excited to be reuniting with Simon Cowell and The X Factor family,” added Rowland. “It feels great to be able to take this journey here at home in the states!”

And Rubio said, “I love The X Factor! I can’t wait to find the next big music star here in America. I’m so thrilled to be part of the show as a judge. Simon, be careful what you wish for, let’s see if you are ready to handle me, empieza la fiesta, amigo!”

Kelly Rowland scored four number one singles with Destiny’s Child and sold more than 60 million albums. Rowland earned 14 Grammy Award nominations and three wins as part of the group, and as a solo act she’s sold more than 5 million records. Latin artist Paulina Rubio has released 10 studio albums and sold more than 20 million records.

Auditions for season three are continuing online through June 15, 2013.

‘Ice Road Truckers’ Hit the Road for a New Season

History’s bringing back the popular series featuring truckers navigating treacherous roads for another season. Ice Road Truckers returns for season seven on June 9, 2013 at 10pm and will feature “two different companies with legendary truckers” going head-to-head as they attempt to put their rivals out of business. Even Lisa Kelly, who took a year off, will be back this season trying to hang on to her Queen of the Road title.

The Plot:

The battle lines are drawn in Manitoba, Canada. Hugh “Polar Bear” Rowland returns after quitting his previous job at Polar Industries and sets up his own shop right down the street. Bound and determined to reclaim his crown as “King of the Road,” he poaches Polar’s dispatcher, intent on landing as many loads as he can to force his old company into submission. Hugh rounds up the toughest truckers he can find and together with these new faces, they hit the winter roads.

However, Polar Industries and owner Mark Kohaykewych aren’t about to take this challenge lying down. To counter this threat on their turf, they enlist some of Hugh’s biggest rivals. Ice road legend Alex Debogorski signs on to Polar, anxious for the opportunity to wipe out Hugh’s company before it gets a chance to bloom.

After a year hiatus, Alaskan trucking icon Lisa Kelly signs up with Polar as well, looking to conquer the new terrain of the winter roads just like she did on Alaska’s Dalton Highway. Montana Legend Darrell Ward joins the crew at Polar as well, finally getting the chance to drive the deadly ice crossings of Canada.

Throughout the season, the rivalry between the companies reaches a fever pitch as every load delivered means money out of the other team’s pocket. No assignment is off limits, no road is too dangerous and no ice crossing is too thin in this battle for winter roads supremacy.

This season also chronicles an eccentric mechanic way up north who dances to the beat of a completely different drummer. Joey Barnes, nicknamed “The King of Obsolete,” fills his yard with trucks from the 1930’s through the 1970’s. Many of the vehicles are rarities, some he’s re-engineered into his own unique pieces of equipment. And he’s taken it upon himself to use his fleet of trucks to rescue those stuck in the most remote corners of Manitoba.

Ice Road Truckers is a classic story of adventure, perseverance, human ingenuity, and, most importantly, danger. One miscalculation of the road, bad weather or an unseen road hazard can be the difference between life and death. Even the most seasoned drivers will find themselves challenged by the conditions, isolation and lack of creature comforts on the most dangerous roads in North America. Although technology has changed how people deal with the conditions of the Arctic Circle, the people of the region cling to their deep roots and traditions of which ice road trucking has been an integral part for many generations.

NBC has snagged the new drama Siberia for premiere this summer. The network picked up the show from Sierra/Engine Television and Infinity Films and is planning a July 1, 2013 at 10pm premiere.

“NBC immediately saw the potential in Siberia and this acquisition truly exemplifies the quality of this groundbreaking series. We are excited to bring it to their viewers,” said executive producer Chris Philip, CEO for Sierra/Engine Television.

“We created the series as a dramatic human experiment shot under difficult conditions, and we are thrilled to see it on NBC,” added Oscar-nominated producer Ohoven of Infinity Films.

“The concept of survival, when mysterious elements are at play, makes for a compelling show,” said Jeff Bader, President, Program Planning, Strategy and Research for NBC Entertainment. “We believe a scripted series that offers an insightful behind-the-scenes view of how a reality concept comes together — especially when things don’t go according to plan — will connect with our audience in a very satisfying way.”

The Plot:

In 1908, a meteor hit deep into the remote Siberian territory of Tunguska. Now, more than 100 years later, 16 contestants descend on Tunguska unknowing of the land’s mysterious past. When a contestant is badly injured and no help arrives, the contestants are met with the chilling realization that the strange occurrences are not part of the show. With their safety threatened, competing contestants must band together in an effort to survive.

I don’t think I’d mess with Jor-El after checking out this poster from Warner Bros Pictures’ upcoming Superman movie, Man of Steel. Warner Bros’ latest poster for the much-anticipated superhero movie spotlights Russell Crowe as Superman’s father, Jor-El, and he looks ready to take on all comers.

In addition to Crowe, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Man of Steel will enter theaters on June 14, 2013.

The Plot:

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are returning for the 86th Academy Awards in 2014, however they’ll be doing so without 2013’s host. Seth MacFarlane has put an end to the rumors and speculation about his return to the Oscar hosting gig by taking to Twitter to confirm he won’t be back.

MacFarlane tweeted:

“Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly–>”

followed by:

“–> recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix.” – @SethMacFarlane

That suggestion prompted a couple of his Twitter followers to offer their own suggestions, including Amanda Bynes, Stewie, and Lindsay Lohan. @moooooog35 suggested Lohan co-host with Phoenix, saying the tagline could be: “The Oscars have never been more emotionally unstable.”

KROQ Weenie Roast 2013 Review

By Christina Radish

At the annual day-long KROQ Weenie Roast at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, Calif., the eclectic line-up presented something for pretty much every music-lover and listener of the popular rock station.

After side stage acts Twenty One Pilots, New Politics, Capital Cities, The Neighbourhood and Fitz & The Tantrums, who drew the biggest and loudest crowd, were finished, the main stage swung into full gear with Atlas Genius. Then, AWOLNATION had the crowd singing along to their much-played single “Sail,” while Imagine Dragons turned in the afternoon’s most impressive and stand-out set, proving that they are just as strong live as they are on record.

KROQ mainstays Silversun Pickups and Jimmy Eat World brought the fire with some loud guitars, before Of Monsters and Men quieted things down a bit with their beautifully harmonic Icelandic folk and Vampire Weekend proved that preppies can rock, too.

And then, the night’s surprise act – the musicians of Stone Temple Pilots, led by Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington – really tore up the stage, unleashing ferocious riffs that were a perfect marriage with Bennington’s spot-on rock vocals, and didn’t seem to make the crowd miss embattled singer Scott Weiland. 30 Seconds to Mars followed that explosive set, which many lesser bands might have been too intimated to do. But, Jared Leto’s sharp and pure vocals mixed with a set of their hits that had their devoted following chanting along, definitely kept the momentum going.

Closing out the night was megastar act The Black Keys, whose Led Zeppelin-esque fretwork and pounding drums ended the show with a stadium rock feel.

And the Winner of 2013’s ‘All-Star Celebrity Apprentice’ is…

Over $3 million was earned for charity on this season of Donald Trump’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, the sixth season of the Celebrity edition. And in total, this season’s winner alone earned $1,554,072 for the American Red Cross, including the $250,000 grand prize.

Other big winners for charity included fan favorite Lil Jon, who was given $100,000 for his chosen charity, the American Diabetes Association. At the same time, Penn Jillette was able to raise a total of $598,655 for Opportunity Village plus an additional $100,000 from Walgreens for coming up with the top-selling celebrity flavor premium ice cream: Good & DeLish.

Ultimately the judging panel, which this season included Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump, chose Country artist Trace Adkins as the first-ever All-Star Celebrity Apprentice winner. Jillette was the runner-up.

“We had the All-Star players this season and Trace clearly demonstrated that he has what it takes to be a winner,” said Trump. “As our new Celebrity Apprentice, he proved to have the winning strategy throughout the intense schedule and tough boardrooms. He was also able to win $1,554,072 for his charity, American Red Cross. I congratulate him on his win – Trace is a star all the way and now joins Piers Morgan, Joan Rivers, Bret Michaels, John Rich and Arsenio Hall as winners of the toughest reality show on television today. I’d also like to salute Penn, who was also a very impressive player.”

“Sometimes in life we begin a task wondering if it’s the right thing to do,” stated Adkins. “Tonight, I can proudly say that competing on the show a second time ended up being a very good thing. I was honored to play for the American Red Cross – they came to my family’s aid when we needed them and I am a man who repays my debts. They deserve this bonus check for $250,000 from Mr. Trump and I also must thank the Nashville community and all my friends who contributed to the fund-raising efforts all season long. At any hour of the day, there is an American Red Cross volunteer selflessly helping others and they deserve our support. I’d also like to congratulate Opportunity Village for finding the ultimate supporter in Penn Jillette. He is a man of integrity and compassion who I am glad to call my friend.”

This season’s contestants included Adkins, Jillette, Taxi star/best-selling author Marilu Henner, La Toya Jackson, television/radio personality Claudia Jordan, The Apprentice original all-star Omarosa, actress Lisa Rinna, Playmate of the Year Brande Roderick, actor Stephen Baldwin, actor Gary Busey, rapper Lil Jon, singer Bret Michaels, ex-NBA player Dennis Rodman, and rocker Dee Snider.
