Lindsay Lohan Involved in Another Car Accident – and Has a New ‘Liz and Dick’ Poster

Liz and Dick Poster
Lindsay Lohan stars as “Elizabeth Taylor” in the Lifetime Original Movie, Liz & Dick, premiering on Lifetime. Photo by Courtesy of Lifetime Copyright 2011

Striking while the iron is hot, Lifetime’s just unveiled the poster for the made-for-TV movie Liz & Dick starring Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor and Grant Bowler as Richard Burton.

The troubled actress is back in the news again after alledgedly having left the scene after clipping a pedestrian outside a nightclub in Manhattan. It’s being reported that Lohan was driving a Porsche Cayenne and didn’t stop and was later arrested and given a desk-appearance ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.

Seriously? Why, after everything that she’s done, doesn’t she have a driver? That would at least keep her from being involved in car accidents.

The Plot:

For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called ‘the marriage of the century’ — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Swarmed by paparazzi, Taylor and Burton’s love affair was played out entirely in front of the global press from the time they met on the set of the major motion picture Cleopatra, left their respective spouses, married and divorced, only to remarry and divorce once again. Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Taylor and Burton shared an undeniable love greater than most people could have ever dreamed.”

Hunted Premieres in October

Hunted PosterCinemax has set October 19, 2012 as the premiere date for their new dramatic series, Hunted, from X-Files writer/producer Frank Spotnitz. The eight episode series stars Melissa George, Adam Rayner, Stephen Dillane, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and marks the second original primetime series ever to air on Cinemax (Strike Back was the first).

The Plot:

Hunted follows two primary story lines: Sam Hunter’s journey to discover who is behind the attempt on her life and Byzantium’s mission itself, both of which have larger implications. As the story unfolds, it becomes hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Uncertain of its clients’ motives, the Byzantium team often finds itself working in a gray area, forcing Sam to operate in complete secrecy for her own safety.”

George stars as Sam and she says the character is someone you’d never want to cross. “She is still the firm’s best operative, but since the attempt on her life, any trust she had for the firm and her co-workers is gone. That is why she is so determined to go back to work and face her team – she really believes that one of them is behind it. She is a very complicated person and not easy to get to know,” offered George.

Discussing the series, creator Frank Spotnitz explained, “I love the spy genre. It’s one of my all-time favorite things. I grew up watching so many spy movies and shows. Because the viewing choices have never been greater on television, no longer does the work have to be homogenized the way it used to. It has allowed writers and producers to do really interesting, sophisticated work. I think that television’s never been better than it is today because of that – because of the freedom you have as a creator.”

And believe it or not, Tosh.0 is close to airing its 100th episode. The milestone will hit on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 as part of season four.

The comedy series is the most watched/highest rated on the network so giving Tosh another season wasn’t a difficult decision. Replied Tosh, “It’s hard for me to get excited about anything when the Miami Dolphins look so terrible.”

Tosh.0, which has been averaging 3.7 million viewers, will have its fall season premiere on September 25, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT.

The Shining Sequel Coming in 2013

Stephen King The ShiningStephen King’s official website broke the news that the sequel to The Shining will be hitting stores on September 24, 2013. Doctor Sleep will center on Danny Torrance, the kid from The Shining who added ‘redrum’ to our horror vernacular.

The synopsis, courtesy of StephenKing.com:

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special twelve-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals.

On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and tween Abra Stone learns, The True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the ‘steam’ that children with the ‘shining’ produce when they are slowly tortured to death.

Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel where he spent one horrific childhood year, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father’s legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant ‘shining’ power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes ‘Doctor Sleep.’

Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted readers of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.”

The Shining was originally published in 1977, with Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, and Scatman Crothers starring in Stanley Kubrick’s film adaptation in 1980.
