On Katie Couric’s daytime talk show, Katie, Fifty Shades of Grey book trilogy author E.L. James answered questions from the audience including whether we’ll ever read a book from Christian’s point of view, whether she has any guides for S&M participants, her role in the movie, and who’d she would pick to play Christian and Anastastia.
She doesn’t reveal names, but does say she has three people who could play Christian and four people who could play Anna. Here’s hoping one is Ian Somerhalder, and that her list doesn’t include any Twilight actors.
After having spent the summer on the road as part of the Warped Tour, The Constellations will be back out on tour again beginning on October 10, 2012 in Colorado in support of Matisyahu. The Atlanta-based group will be promoting their first album from 429 Records, Do It For Free, which was produced by Andy Rose and hit stores on June 12th.
The album’s title is a reference to both the 99 Percenters and to the band’s dedication to playing live “no matter the costs or profit.” According to Elijah Jones, much of the inspiration for Do It For Free came from spending time on the road, touring. “We’ve been on the road for what seems like forever and a lot has changed musically since our first release. We’re changing what The Constellations’ sound can and will be defined as. While there was no overall concept going into the writing and recording of Do It For Free, we knew we wanted to make something that sounded a little more soulful, with more melodic songwriting and less rapping. We wanted it to be defined under one musical umbrella instead of doing all the stylistic jumps,” said Jones.

NBC says Jesse L. Martin will have a six-episode arc on the musical drama Smash. Martin was previously seen on the small screen as a regular on Law & Order from 1999-2008 and on the short-lived series The Philanthropist in 2009. He’s also a member of the original cast of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Rent (and reprised his role for the film adaptation) and will actually get a chance to show off his singing voice once again with his upcoming stint on Smash.
According to NBC, Martin is set to play Scott Welker, the “artistic director of the Manhattan Theatre Workshop whose story crosses with virtually every cast member.” The Smash cast includes Debra Messing, Megan Hilty, Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee, Jeremy Jordan, and Christian Borle.
The Plot of Smash:
Smash is a musical drama that celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross-section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire – to be a Broadway star.
Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer, and Seth Meyers on 'SNL' - (Photo by: Dana Edelson/NBC) Pageant queen diva Honey Boo Boo and her mom provided fodder for a skit on the 38th season premiere of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Hosted by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted), many of the skits and Weekend Update topics were political, and because Here Comes Honey Boo Boo had more viewers than the Republic National Convention, SNL did a skit featuring SNL players as Honey Boo Boo and her mom talking about what they look for in a candidate.
Today, ABC Family announced they’re greenlighting three new pilots – one drama and two comedies – that will start production this fall. The three just greenlit pilots (Terminales, Phys Ed, Continuing Fred) join the three previously announced dramatic pilots (including one from executive producer Jennifer Lopez) also set to begin shooting this fall.
“ABC Family is synonymous with groundbreaking dramas, and this summer we found additional strength with our comedy lineup. These pilots will further our strength in both areas and add to our existing slate,” stated Kate Juergens, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development, ABC Family, announcing the new pilots. “In fact, over the past few years, the network launched the #1 new basic cable series in target demos with Pretty Little Liars in Summer 2010 and Switched at Birth in Summer 2011, and launched the #1 new cable comedy of Summer 2012 with Baby Daddy. It’s a trend we are working to continue.”
Details on the New Pilots:
Terminales Terminales is a one-hour drama based on a successful Mexican television format by Miguel Angel Fox and follows a young woman’s life after she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. The pilot was written by Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz.
Phys Ed Phys Ed is a half-hour multi-camera comedy series about a high school’s star jock who returns to teach at his former alma mater only to find that, even though he’s changed, nothing else really has. The pilot is written and-executive produced by David H. Steinberg (American Pie 2).
Continuing Fred Continuing Fred is a half-hour multi-camera comedy about 20-something Winifred “Fred” Harris, a newly-graduated slacker with an overbearing family who surprisingly finds purpose when she begins to teach at a local elementary school.
Syfy plans on airing a 12 episode season three in 2013.
The Details:
“Eminent paranormal collector John Zaffis and his team of investigators respond to SOS calls from around the country by individuals and businesses who’ve been terrorized by items that have been taken over by paranormal spirits and/or energy. Through careful research, Zaffis works with the owner to find the best solution to the ghostly problem, such as returning the item to its owner, burying the object in its place of origin or storing it in his paranormal museum in Stratford, Connecticut.”
MTV will be airing another 60 minute It Gets Better special hosted by Don Savage on October 9, 2012 at 11pm ET/PT. The special will air two days before National Coming Out Day and will feature young people sharing their stories of what it’s like growing up LGBT.
The first It Gets Better special, which aired on MTV and Logo on February 21, 2012, earned an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Children’s Nonfiction, Reality or Reality-Competition Program category and was recently honored with the Governors Award during the 2012 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
The It Gets Better Project was created in response to a number of students taking their lives after being bullied in school. Savage and Terry Miller made a YouTube video in hopes of reaching young people who were dealing with bullying. Their video helped launch a worldwide movement that inspired 50,000+ user-created videos. Those videos have been watched over 50 million times, with celebrities, politicians, and professional athletes even submitting videos to be included as part of the It Gets Better Project.
