Kelly Clarkson Performs Call Me Maybe
Quit asking – we are not over this whole “Call Me Maybe” video craze! And it’s a good thing we’re not as then we’d be missing out on Kelly Clarkson’s amazing performance of the super-popular Carly Rae Jepsen tune.
Clarkson performed the song at the request of a fan during the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on August 17, 2012. The American Idol winner confesses “Call Me Maybe” confuses her, but also says she loves the song and even had a chance to mentor Jepsen when she was a contestant on Canadian Idol.
First Look: This Must Be the Place

After watching the This Must Be the Place trailer a couple of times, I’m just not sold on the prospect of sitting through an entire film with Sean Penn in this character. It might work, but based solely on this trailer, it seems fairly certain this one’s going to be a tough sell to audiences.
The Plot [Courtesy of Trinity Film]:
Cheyenne (Penn) is a former rock star who is still rocking the Goth look. Now 50, he relives the days of superstardom with avid young fan and best friend Mary (Eve Hewson).
Living off his royalties he rattles around his grand Dublin mansion until the death of his estranged father calls him to New York.
Reunited with his family, Cheyenne discovers a secret that sends him across America. On a journey through the Midwest, full of surprises and surreal encounters, from New York socialites to ethical gun-shop owners to a reunion with old friend David Byrne of Talking Heads, Cheyenne is on the road trip of his life.

FOX Plans for More Hell

Fox has renewed the Gordon Ramsey series for a second season, giving chef Ramsay a chance to turn around even more struggling establishments. Ramsey visits “horrid hotels, awful inns and just plain bad bed and breakfasts” in order to help the owners figure out what’s wrong and how to make things better for their visitors.
Reacting to the renewal, Ramsay stated: “The response to Hotel Hell has been truly extraordinary, and we’re really excited to have the opportunity to turn around many more hotels in dire need of intervention.”
“With Hotel Hell, Gordon has proved once again that he’s one of the most successful and appealing personalities on television,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “He delivered an amazing new show for us this summer that fans immediately embraced, and I can’t wait for him to get started on an even more exciting Season Two.”
The Plot:
In Hotel Hell, Ramsay endures hotels at their worst – from filthy bedrooms and mold-ridden bathrooms to dreadful room service and incompetent management – all so unsuspecting guests don’t have to. After he uncovers all the dirty secrets, Ramsay puts the hotel owners and employees to work as he attempts to turn around these failing establishments. With reputations on the line, one thing is certain: if they can’t meet and maintain Ramsay’s five-star standards, they will never check out of Hotel Hell.

Kelly Ripa Officially Has a New Co-Host

Ripa announced Strahan as her new co-host this morning following a week or two of internet rumors which had reported Strahan’s attachment to the talk show as a done deal.
In a statement issued via The Hollywood Reporter by executive producer Michael Gelman, he stated: “As a guest co-host, Michael’s chemistry with Kelly was off the charts, and continued to grow each time he visited the show. The interaction between the co-hosts always has been what makes this show different from any other on television. Kelly and Michael’s ability to play off of one another and just plain have a good time together creates great TV for the audience.”
Ernest and Celestine Finds a Distributor
The animated feature film Ernest & Celestine has been picked up by GKIDS for US distribution. Based on Gabrielle Vincent’s popular children’s books, the family-friendly film was created in “sumptuous hand-painted watercolor design” and was brought to life on screen by directors Stephane Aubier, Vincent Patar, and Benjamin Renner.

GKIDs is planning a fall 2013 US theatrical release.
Commenting on the acquisition, GKIDS president Eric Beckman stated, “We are overjoyed to be bringing Ernest & Celestine to US audiences. The film is a triumph of 2D animation and storytelling. A phenomenally beautiful hand painted watercolor design, immensely likable characters, a wonderful ‘friendship against all odds’ story that sweeps you up and does not waste a single minute of screen time. It is just overflowing with warmth and playful visual humor, there is so, so much to like about this movie.”
The Plot:
Ernest & Celestine tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a bear, Ernest, and a young mouse named Celestine.

Nicole Krauss Releases An Arrangement of Light
Nicole Krauss has released a “chilling” new short story, An Arrangement of Light, via Byliner. Krauss is an internationally bestselling author who was a National Book Award finalist for both Great House and The History of Love, and her books have been translated into 35 languages.
The An Arrangement of Light Plot:
Narrated by the personal secretary to a world-famous landscape architect, it is a tale about how survival of the fittest, whether for flora or fauna, beast or man, is often a guarantee of treachery, and how, in the end, our loyalties can become as trapping as any prison.
Set in an unnamed country as familiar as it is otherworldly, the story begins with a young horticulturist’s admiration for the work of a great man and his hope to help build the new public park in the capital. He ends up securing far more than that: a complicity with the park’s celebrated designer he could never have imagined or wished for. And when a military coup ushers capricious generals into power and they arrive in their black sedans with dark plans for the park, the personal secretary discovers that dreams risk running headlong into nightmares. Ultimately he must reckon with the fact that nature, for all its beauty, is cruel and conniving, and that a good gardener cannot tame it, only bend its neck.
Per Byliner, An Arrangement of Light is currently available as a Kindle Single, a Quick Read at Apple’s iBookstore, and as a NOOK Snap at BN.com.
