Lifetime has released three new photos of Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler as screen legends Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in their original made-for-TV-movie Liz & Dick. The biopic chronicles the tumultuous on-again/off-again relationship of the famous pair. From the official press release announcing the start of production:
For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called ‘the marriage of the century’ — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Swarmed by paparazzi, Taylor and Burton’s love affair was played out entirely in front of the global press from the time they met on the set of the major motion picture Cleopatra, left their respective spouses, married and divorced, only to remarry and divorce once again. Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Taylor and Burton shared an undeniable love greater than most people could have ever dreamed.”

During the 2012 San Diego Comic Con, Foxx talked about what Westerns mean to him. “I’m from Texas, man. For me, being from Texas, when he said I was going to wear the green jacket, I said, ‘I’m going to wear the green jacket from Bonanza?’ He said yeah. I said, ‘Oh, man.’ As a kid, whether you were black or white or Hispanic, when you were growing up everybody watched Hee Haw, everybody watched Bonanza, everybody twirled little plastic guns. And in my home, the Brown family, we actually had a rodeo. We had horses. We didn’t do bull riding but we did tricks and stuff like that. So it was real cool. And then also too I get a chance to ride my own horse in the movie.”
Django Unchained is heading to theaters on December 25, 2012.
The Plot:
Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…
ABC's "Good Morning America" team wearing their Prayer for Protection wristbands, created in honor of Robin Roberts (Photo provided courtesy of Good Morning America).
Robin Roberts has had to say good-bye to her Good Morning America cohorts in order to prepare for a bone marrow transplant, however none of her GMA friends or viewers will forget her while she’s gone. And GMA viewers and Roberts fans can purchase a “Prayer for Protection” wristband in support of the popular television personality with 100% of the proceeds from the bracelets benefiting Be The Match®. The wristbands are $5 for 5 bands and can be found at ShopBeTheMatch.org. Be The Match helps patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other diseases who need a marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant and has the world’s largest listing of potential marrow donors and donated cord blood units in the world.
The colorful bracelets each have Roberts’ initials along with the Prayer for Protection Roberts’ mother taught her: “Light, Love, Power, Presence.” Roberts’ friends designed the wristband following her diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
Roberts went public with her diagnosis on June 11, 2012 and revealed her best hope for a cure is a bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sally-Ann.
“Since my diagnosis, I’ve been focusing on the fight, not the fright,” Roberts said. “I’m a thriver, not a survivor, and I hope everyone out there wears this bracelet in honor of the countless other thrivers around the world.”
“Robin is an example to everyone battling a life-threatening disease,” said Jeffrey W. Chell, M.D., chief executive officer of the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP). “Robin is fighting her disease with grace, while helping raise awareness for Be The Match and the critical need for more bone marrow donors.”

The cast of 'Jersey Shore' Season 6 - Photo Courtesy of MTVMTV formally announced they’re saying good-bye to the reality series Jersey Shore. The network says the sixth season, set to premiere on October 4, 2012 at 10pm, will be the show’s final season. But don’t be sad Jersey Shore fans…you’ll have plenty of opportunities to say good-bye to Snooki and the Jersey gang as they’ll be doing lots of promotional appearances heading into the last season of the show.
The network’s planning a “season’s worth of celebratory Jersey Shore farewell programming” beginning on September 6th. Here’s that day’s Jersey Shore lineup thus far:
– A one-hour retrospective special titled “Gym, Tan, Look Back” that includes footage from the final season and cast interviews will air at 6pm.
– The Jersey Shore crew will hit the red carpet at 7pm during the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Pre-Show, chatting up their last season.
– An “awards-themed” marathon of Jersey Shore episodes begins at 11am featuring some of the show’s most iconic scenes.
Then on October 4 after the season six premiere and continuing with each new episode, MTV will deliver “bonus programming” at 11pm.
A Look Back:
MTV’s Jersey Shore is the highest rated series in the network’s history. It was the #1 cable series for P12-34 for all five of its seasons and launched spin-offs including The Pauly D Project and Snooki & JWOWW. It also inspired international versions: Geordie Shore in the UK and Gandia Shore in Spain.
The Rolling Stones, now celebrating 50 years as part of rock ‘n roll’s founding class, are the subject of a new documentary set to air on HBO on November 15, 2012. Crossfire Hurricane follows the iconic rockers, chronicling their lives, and documenting key periods in their careers. The documentary was made with the full cooperation of The Rolling Stones and combines historical footage (some of which is widely unseen) with “contemporary commentaries by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor.” The film also includes period interviews, live performance material, and news archive footage.
In an interview for the documentary, Jagger was asked what it is that set The Rolling Stones apart from other groups. His reply? “A chemical reaction seems to have happened.” Keith Richards adds, “You can’t really stop the Rolling Stones, you know when that sort of avalanche is facing you, you just get out of the way.”
Commenting on the documentary, director Brett Morgen said, “Crossfire Hurricane invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty. This is not an academic history lesson. Crossfire Hurricane allows the viewer to experience the Stones’ journey from a unique vantage point. It’s an aural and visual roller coaster ride.”
Crossfire Hurricane Details:
“Taking its title from a lyric in ‘Jumping Jack Flash,’ Crossfire Hurricane gives the audience an intimate insight, for the first time, into exactly what it’s like to be part of the Rolling Stones, as they overcame denunciation, drugs, dissensions and death to become the definitive survivors. It’s the backstage pass to outdo them all.
From the outset of the film, viewers know they’re in for a white-knuckle ride. No sooner had the early Stones line-up first played live under that name in the summer of 1962 than they were bigger than the venues that tried to hold them. Wyman remembers how the crowds were soon inspiring manic behaviour, especially among screaming girls, whose uncontrollable excitement was obvious as stardom beckoned for the band already earmarked as the bad guys with press headlines like ‘Would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone?’
Riots and the chaos of early tours are graphically depicted, as is the birth of the Jagger-Richards songwriting partnership. The many dramas they encountered are also fully addressed, including the Redlands drug bust, the descent of Brian Jones into what Richards calls ‘bye-bye land,’ and the terror and disillusionment of 1969’s Altamont Festival.
The band’s rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle is also discussed with extraordinary forthrightness, including the time of their seminal 1972 album Exile on Main St., which topped the British charts both then and 38 years later in its deluxe reissue. Their very survival repeatedly under threat, we see how the Stones survived with a backs-to-the-wall spirit. ‘We may be going down,’ says Keith, ‘but we’re not going down your way.’
The film illustrates the Stones’ evolution from being, as Mick vividly describes it, ‘the band everybody hated to the band everybody loves,’ through the hedonistic 1970s and Keith’s turning-point bust in Canada to the spectacular touring phenomenon we know today. Richards also reveals the song that he believes defines the ‘essence’ of his writing relationship with Jagger more than any other.”
Columbia Records announced One Direction’s second album, Take Me Home, will be released on November 13, 2012. Available for pre-order on September 3rd, Take Me Home finds the group collaborating with Dr Luke, Shellback and Toby Gad as well as reuniting with Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk, Savan Kotecha, Ed Sheeran and McFly’s Tom Fletcher.
Take Me Home‘s lead single, “Live While We’re Young,” will be released to radio stations on September 24 and released digitally on Monday, October 1 in the US.
One Direction made history as the first UK band ever to debut at number one on the US Billboard chart with their debut effort, Up All Night. And the pre-order for their upcoming single set a record as the fastest selling pre-order single in history. According to Columbia Records, it hit #1 in 50+ countries just hours after going on sale.
Made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, One Direction came together as a result of the 2010 The X Factor UK series. To date they’ve sold an incredible 12 million records.
CBS says this season’s teams will be faced with challenges that include working as rat collectors in Bangladesh, a 10-story rappel in Los Angeles, and the task of frying an egg on their heads in Indonesia.
