Disney/Pixar wishes dads everywhere a Happy Father’s Day with this new video clip from Brave. Set to hit theaters on June 22nd, Brave features the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Craig Ferguson, Kevin McKidd, Julie Walters, and Robbie Coltrane.
The Plot: Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane).
Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
Walt Disney Animation will be delivering the animated short Paperman in front of the theatrical release of Wreck-It Ralph. According to Disney, Paperman‘s going to be showing us something we haven’t seen before: a groundbreaking combination of computer-generated and hand-drawn animation. John Kahrs directed the short which was created using a proprietary program called Meander. Per Disney, “employing a technique called final line advection, artists were able to add a level of grace and expressiveness never before seen in an animated film.”
Wreck-It Ralph (and Paperman) hit theaters on November 2, 2012.
The Details:
Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what fate has in store for him.

Led by Elijah Jones, and featuring Wes Hoffman (bass), Travis Phillips (guitar), James Gordon (keyboards), and Shane Hoffman (drums) — the band reinforce their reputation for hard-swinging alt beats but have honed their musical outlook by concentrating on muscular grooves and a more soulful melodicism. Produced by Andy Rose, the swirling funk anchored by the B3 and Fender Rhodes Organ provides the perfect backdrop for the band’s trademark gritty songwriting.
Universal Pictures has just debuted the new trailer for the comedy Pitch Perfect arriving in theaters on October 5th. Directed by Jason Moore, Pitch Perfect is rated PG-13 and stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine, and Freddie Stroma.
The Plot:
Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.
