All-American Rejects, Alanis Morissette Featured on Guitar Center Sessions

Guitar Center and DIRECTV just released the schedule for the 2012 season of Guitar Center Session featuring live performances and interviews. This seven-episode season will kick off on May 18th exclusively on DIRECTV. Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators will be the featured artists on the May 18th premiere, with Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, and Colbie Caillat also performing this season.

“With each episode we aim to present more than just the exceptional live performances given by our guest artists,” stated the show’s host, Nic Harcourt. “We provide music fans a glimpse into the creative process behind the music and histories of their idols, revealing their unique stories of successes as well as struggles, offering a realistic inside look at what it takes to succeed as a musician.”

CraveOnline has just debuted a very David Hasselhoff-centric new clip from the upcoming horror comedy, Piranha 3DD. Hitting theaters on June 1st, this latest film about killer fish also features Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, and Chris Zylka.

Barry Manilow Breaks a 35 Year Old Chart Record

Barry Manilow’s Live in London album has become the highest charting live album since 1977. The album earned #1 on Billboard’s Top Internet Albums chart, #5 on the Indie Albums chart, and #24 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. Manilow also scored success with his 15 Minutes CD released last year. That album debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Independent Chart in June.

“This is just incredible,” stated Manilow. “Two successful albums in one year? I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Manilow’s Live in London was recorded May 4-11, 2011 with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and includes “Looks Like We Made It,” “Mandy,” and “Can’t Smile Without You.”

Macy Gray will be supporting her new record, Covered, with a summer tour alongside Seal. Gray’s new album features a “collection of all new recordings of handpicked songs reinterpreted in her own inimitable fashion,” including songs originally done by Metallica, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, and Eurythmics.

In addition to the tour, Gray’s going to be doing a few TV interviews and performances, including appearances on Letterman and CNN.

The X Factor UK singer Olly Murs has just signed with Columbia Records and will debut his first single “Heart Skips A Beat” on May 22nd. In addition, Murs will appear as a special guest on One Direction’s US Summer Tour, marking his first live performances in the US. He’ll be releasing his first US album this fall.

“I can’t wait to come over to the US to tour with the One Direction boys and release my first single there!” said Olly Murs. “‘Heart Skips A Beat’ is a favorite of mine and my fans, and I hope you guys will love it too.”

Murs already has two double platinum albums and three #1 singles in the UK.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and The Client List will be back for season #2, so says Lifetime. Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager of Lifetime Networks just announced Hewitt, who stars in and executive produces the series, will return for 15 new episodes next year.
 
In the announcement, Dubuc stated: “The Client List represents everything we want to be — fresh, exciting and original with attitude. We love Jennifer and this series, and are equally thrilled that they have connected with our audience, especially as we express our new brand, ‘Your Life. Your Time.'”
 
Hewitt added, “I couldn’t be happier about Lifetime’s decision to renew The Client List for a second season. It has been so much fun working with such a great cast and crew on the wonderful stories we tell, and I’m ready to see where The Client List takes all of us next year.”
 
The Plot:
 
The Client List tells the story of Texas housewife “Riley Parks” (Hewitt), who, after being deserted by her husband, takes a job at a seemingly traditional day spa only to learn that sexual favors are being offered there on the side. Conflicted at first, she seizes the opportunity and takes the job, balancing two starkly different lives – one as a single mom in a conservative town struggling to provide for her family – and the other as a masseuse working with a rowdy and unpredictable group of women.

Rihanna was the musical guest on the May 5, 2012 episode of Saturday Night Live (hosted by Eli Manning) and the Grammy-winning singer put on quite a show. Rihanna sang “Talk That Talk” in front of a giant spider-web with lasers and “Where Have You Been” made up as an Egyptian queen surrounded by dancers in Egytian costumes.

Beyonce Adds Another Concert at Ovation Hall

Beyonce’s Memorial Day weekend concerts at Revel Center sold out within minutes, prompting an additiona; show to be added on May 28th. Beyonce’s concerts at Revel over the May 25-28 holiday weekend will be her first live concerts since last summer (before the birth of Blue Ivy).

Tickets for the just-added show will go on sale to Beyonce’s fans via a presale on Beyonce.com on Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m., EDT. Tickets are available to the general public on May 14 at 10 a.m., EDT. at Ticketmaster.com.

Ovation Hall at Revel Center can seat 5,000 fans, each with an unobstructed view of the performer. The new hall opened for an eight week preview on April 2nd, with the location’s premiere coming Memorial Day weekend.

Revel Center is located on the Boardwalk at Connecticut Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Hunger Games Gets a June Release in China

The Hunger Games has already collected more than $620 million worldwide, with fans of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling trilogy seeing the film multiple times and newbies to the story catching on to Collins’ characters via this first film of the series. Now Lionsgate’s announced the audience for The Hunger Games will be growing in June with the film’s release in China.
 
According to Lionsgate, the film will be dubbed and subtitled for release in China. And per a new agreement, Lionsgate will be able to collect up to 25% of the film’s receipts making it one of the first major studio releases benefiting from this new revenue sharing agreement.
 
The Plot:
 
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
 
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Jackson Rathbone Returns for ‘Aim High’ Season 2

The online series Aim High is returning for a second season, with Jackson Rathbone (‘Jasper’ in Twilight) back in the lead role as a government operative named Nick Green.

Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, Dolphin Digital Studios, Inc., and Wonderland Sound and Vision announced today that the series had been greenlit for a second season. Filming’s expected to begin later this month in Los Angeles and Ari Sandel (Oscar winner for the live-action short West Bank Story) is on board to direct.

“The first season of Aim High was well received by online audiences and fans will be blown away by what we have planned for season two,” stated producer McG. “I am thrilled to be working with a filmmaker as talented as Ari Sandel. His proficiency in storytelling and ability to connect with a discriminate audience are second to none.”

The Plot:

Aim High is the story of a young man leading a double life – juggling his studies by day and serving as a government operative by night. Season one of the series chronicled the life of Nick Green and his junior year of High School while working as one of the country’s 64 highly trained teenage operatives.
