NBC believes in fairy tales and in Grimm. The network has given the newbie series a full first season order, which will allow the show to introduce even more bizarre fairy tale creatures into its storylines.
“We are very pleased to be making a full-season commitment for Grimm. This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience,” stated NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt.
In addition, NBC will test the waters and see how Grimm holds up in a different time slot when it airs an episode of the show on Thursday, December 8, 2011at 10pm.
The Synopsis: Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Those weren’t stories — they were warnings. Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, Turn The Beat Around) thought he prepared himself for the realities of working as a homicide detective until he started seeing things he couldn’t quite explain. When his ailing Aunt Marie (guest star Kate Burton, Grey’s Anatomy) arrives, Nick’s life turns upside down when she reveals they are descendants of an elite group of hunters, also known as “Grimms,” who fight to keep the balance of humanity safe from the supernatural creatures of the world.
As Nick digs deeper into her past, he realizes that he will have to shoulder the responsibility of his ancestors — and contend with a larger-than-life mythology of the Brothers Grimm that is now all too real.
As we get closer to the heart of awards season, The Artist is one of the movies you’ll be hearing more and more about. It’s come out of left field and taken critics and preview audiences by surprise, and The Weinstein Company will likely be throwing their resources behind it when Oscar campaigns kick into high gear.
Hitting theaters in limited release on November 25, 2011, The Artist was written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius and stars Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Penelope Ann Miller, and Missi Pyle.
The Plot: Hollywood 1927. George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo), it seems the sky’s the limit – major movie stardom awaits. The Artist tells the story of their interlinked destinies.
Martin L Gore (Depeche Mode) and Vince Clarke (Erasure / Yazoo / Depeche Mode) are combining their talents under the name VCMG and will be releasing a new album (preceded by a series of EPs).
Per the official announcement:
VCMG is the fruit of initially tentative discussion and subsequent enthused collaboration where Vince and Martin, both influential as pioneers in electronic music, get to exercise their lifelong love of the genre as the techno-inspired VCMG.
As Vince explains: “I’ve been getting into and listening to a lot of minimal dance music and I got really intrigued by all the sounds… I realized I needed a collaborator… so it occurred to me to talk to Martin.”
Says Gore: “Out of the blue I got an e-mail from Vince just saying, ‘I’m interested in making a techno album. Are you interested in collaborating?’ This was maybe a year ago. He said, ‘No pressure, no deadlines,’ so I said, ‘OK’.”
The writing and recording of the album was done in a typically unique way with the pair working alone in their respective studios, communicating only via email, exchanging files until the album was ready. It was in May 2011 that the pair met for the first time to discuss the project when they both performed at Short Circuit presents Mute festival in London.
The album (title to be announced soon) was produced by Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore and mixed by the influential Californian electronic artist Überzone / Q and will be released in the spring of 2012.
The first release is an EP entitled Spock. EP1 / SPOCK will feature remixes from Edit-Select, aka Tony Scott, the UK DJ / producer and founder of EditSelect Records whose previous remix credits include Speedy J, Death In Vegas and Gary Beck; Regis, British techno musician Karl O’Connor, member of the Sandwell District collective and co-founder of Downwards Records); Zak aka DVS1, founder of Hush Records and one of the most prominent figures in US dance music counts techno innovator Derrick May amongst his biggest fans, with his second ever release on May’s own Transmat plus XOQ, the alter ego of Überzone / Q, who mixed the VCMG album.
EP1 / SPOCK will be available initially as a global exclusive on Beatport on 30 November, and then on all DSPs from 12 December with the 12″ release following on 19 December 2011.

Bristling but still battling, Amy turns to Tyler (Mike White) for the key to forcing change, finally, at Abaddonn.

Are you a Britney Spears fan? If so, MTV’s got a contest that should be off interest to you. The network’s launching a ‘Britney Spears Music Video Tournament’ which will pit 30 of her videos against each other for the title of Best Britney Video Ever. The contest kicked off today and ends on Britney’s 30th birthday on December 2nd.
Video Tournament Details from MTV’s official press release:
“The first round of voting is open until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., at which point the 30 videos will be narrowed down to the top 16. You can vote as many times as you wish and campaign as much as you see fit for your favorite videos to move on to the next round of voting.
Will the classic ” … Baby One More Time” go all the way? Or are we still intoxicated by “Toxic”? MTV News correspondents will weigh in with their picks, alongside celebrities and Britney experts alike.
Since 30 videos is an unusual number to balance a tournament bracket, we have automatically pushed forward Britney’s only two VMA-winning videos — “Piece of Me” and “Till the World Ends” — to the second round, where they will no longer be safe from elimination.
Don’t forget about the lesser-known videos that may not have received much airtime, including “My Prerogative” and “Do Somethin’,” since there’s something unique about each clip. Make your votes count — and remember, you are voting for your favorite videos, not songs!
Voting for round two begins at 7 a.m. Wednesday and will last all the way through Thanksgiving weekend, closing Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
As of Monday, November 28, we will begin with eight videos, then four, then two, until we announce the winner Friday, December 2 — Britney’s actual 30th birthday!”
In this production video for season two of Game of Thrones, series creator/writer/executive producer David Benioff says, “One of the great challenges with the second season is the world just expanded enormously. And not only do we introduce a great number of new characters, but we’re journeying to all new locations.” Benioff goes on to say they’re really gratified that audiences were able to follow all of the storylines in season one and that viewers became so invested in each of the characters.
“This is a fantasy series, but that’s not the key to the show. The key is the people,” states Benioff who succinctly sums up with that statement why viewers (and readers of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books) are so addicted to the series.
The production video, which features footage from the 2012 season debuting in April, does in fact show off a few new characters as well as let us have a look at the returning characters including Jon Snow (my personal favorite character from Martin’s books), Joffrey Baratheon, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, and Arya Stark.
