The X Factor Finalists Revealed

The X Factor Finalist Melanie Amaro

17 acts – not the 16 we’d been expecting – were chosen by judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger to continue on in the The X Factor competition. The contestants will begin battling it out on October 25, 2011 on a two and a half hour special episode, with the top finalists performing for votes on Wednesday, November 2nd.

The competition was bumped up from 16 to 17 after Simon Cowell said he’d made a mistake during the eliminations by getting rid of Melanie Amaro. After discussing the issue with his fellow judges, it was decided the ‘Girl’ category would be expanded from four to five to accommodate the return of Amaro.

According to Fox, the 17 remaining contestants are working with choreographers, vocal producers and style teams in order to prepare for the next step in the competition. On the October 25th episode, the judges will narrow the field down even further. November 2nd will mark the first time the finalists actually compete against each other.

The Glades Renewed for Third Season

Scene from Season 2 of The GladesA&E has made it official, per the show’s website, renewing the crime drama The Glades for a third season. A&E has given the go-ahead for a 13 episode 3rd season that will likely air next summer. The second season, which finished up on September 5th, averaged 3.9 million viewers.

Responding to the good news, Matt Passmore tweeted:

The Plot:

The Glades stars Matt Passmore, Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gomez and Michelle Hurd. Passmore stars as Jim Longworth, an attractive and brilliant Chicago homicide detective with a reputation for being difficult. When his captain wrongfully accuses him of sleeping with his wife and shoots him, he is exiled and forced to relocate. He lands in the sleepy, middle-of-nowhere town of Palm Glade, outside of the Florida Everglades, where sunshine and golf are plentiful and crime is seemingly at a minimum. But Longworth soon finds out this town isn’t quite as idyllic as he originally thought, when murders keep piling up. Each case pulls Longworth off the golf course and reluctantly into his element as one of the sharpest homicide detectives to wear a badge.

U2, Pink Floyd, Taylor Swift Lullaby Albums Coming in November

Parents have an alternative to ordinary lullabies with Cradle Rock’s lullaby albums which take the “melodic structure and tempo of the original songs” from popular artists and create soothing lullabies for babies. The Cradle Rock catalog already includes Kenny Chesney, Johnny Cash, and Michael Jackson-inspired lullabies, and now U2, Pink Floyd, and Taylor Swift will be putting babies to sleep while also entertaining their parents.

Set to drop on November 8th, Cradle Rock producer Stephen Gause says of the upcoming release: “Even children can go ‘where the streets have no name.’ The U2 lullabies are based on The Joshua Tree. The kids will be on the ‘sleepy side of the moon’ with Pink Floyd and tearless and dreaming with Taylor Swift’s Fearless.”

“Each album is produced for parents who want to introduce children to the music they love, but in a softer, gentler format,” states Steve Jones, CEO of Brash Music. “The artwork is kid-friendly while the songs are soothing and comforting. Parents write us about how cool it is to listen to these albums as opposed to some of the other kid music out there.”

David Williams, president of Tree Top Records and executive producer, said, “Cradle Rock focuses on iconic artists and albums that appeal to music fans across a wide variety of genres. What sets Cradle Rock apart is that other lullaby releases are a collection of hits or compilations by various artists while we replicate entire albums.”

Trailer: ‘The Devil Inside’ with Fernanda Andrade

The Devil Inside
A scene from ‘The Devil Inside’ (Photo © Paramount Pictures)

Paramount Pictures’ The Devil Inside will be released on January 6, 2012, but with the studio’s Paranormal Activity 3 opening this Friday and Halloween just a week away now is apparently the perfect time to launch the film’s first trailer. Co-written and directed by William Brent Bell (the 2006 horror/thriller Stay Alive), The Devil Inside stars Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth, and Suzan Crowley.

The Plot: In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people.  20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night.  She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed.

When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria.

Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many.
