‘Whitney’ TV Series Preview: Trailer, Plot and Cast Info

Whitney Cummings stars as the Whitney in the show’s title and Chris D’Elia plays her hubby, Alex, in the new NBC comedy debuting September 22, 2011. Cummings created the series and also serves as a writer and executive producer on the half-hour show.

Season one also features Zoe Lister-Jones is Lily, Rhea Seehorn is Roxanne, Dan O’Brien is Mark, and Maulik Pancholy plays Neal.

The Plot: NBC’s new multi-camera comedy Whitney is a hilarious look at modern day love, which centers around Whitney (Cummings) and Alex (D’Elia), a happily unmarried couple. Together for three years, the duo is in no rush to get hitched, which seems to get a mixed response from their friends.

Whitney’s close circle of girlfriends includes on one side: Lily (Lister-Jones), a romantic idealist who loves being in love, and on the other: Roxanne (Seehorn), a recent divorcee who is practical, cynical, and dreading being single again. Lily and Roxanne’s opposing points of view only exacerbate Whitney’s own complicated outlook on relationships.

Completing their close-knit group is Neal (Pancholy), a real modern-day Renaissance man – sensitive, cool and knows a little bit about everything and happens to be dating Lily. On the other end of the spectrum is Whitney and Alex’s next-door neighbor Mark (O’Brien), a police officer and total bachelor, who claims to be the ultimate player but likes to talk a good game.

At the end of the day, Whitney and Alex try to have a relationship on their own terms – in a world that expects a more traditional approach.




Greg Nicotero Takes on More Walking Dead Duties

Greg Nicotero, the make-up effects genius who’s worked on more than 800 feature films, has been named co-executive producer of The Walking Dead. AMC announced Nicotero’s new job title today and revealed he also now has a first-look deal that will allow him to bring “his own passion projects” to the network.
 
Nicotero will also be directing an episode of the popular show and is doing a series of Walking Dead webisodes this season.
 
“Greg’s talent extends well beyond the word of special fx makeup,” stated Joel Stillerman, AMC’s SVP of original programming, production and digital content in the official press release. “He is also a truly talented director, and has an incredibly comprehensive understanding and appreciation for great storytelling. His knowledge and respect for the genre is unparalleled, and we are looking forward to expanding our relationship with him with an eye towards developing more great original series.”
 
Nicotero said, “Working on The Walking Dead with such a fantastic cast and crew has been an amazing opportunity, and to have our contribution to the show celebrated is a tremendous compliment. I have always felt like the show had a cinematic feel and everyone involved is dedicated to making this show something special. To be able to branch out and to develop not only the web series but also genre material is something I have always wanted to do; given the people I have had the pleasure of working with over the last 23 years.”

Beginning on October 3rd, fans are able to watch the six-episode web series. Produced by Generate, and conceived and directed by Nicotero and written by John Esposito, the webisodes tell an “origin” story of a woman’s struggle to survive and to protect her family as the world begins to fall apart. Fans have the opportunity to explore the back story of one of the most celebrated “walkers” last season. It focuses on “Bicycle Girl,” the infamous zombie from season one, who was shot by Rick Grimes in the pilot episode. Fans learn about this woman’s life before the apocalypse, and watch her story unfold into what becomes her ultimate demise into zombie-hood.

‘Chalet Girl’ – Trailer, Cast, and Plot Details

Felicity Jones and Ed Westwick star in the romantic comedy Chalet Girl which just debuted a new trailer. Directed by Phil Traill, Chalet Girl is heading to theaters on October 14, 2011.

The cast also includes Tamsin Egerton, Sophia Bush, Bill Bailey, Brooke Shields, and Bill Nighy.

Official Synopsis: Pretty tomboy Kim (Felicity Jones) used to be a champion skateboarder, but now she flips burgers to support herself and her dad. Opportunity comes knocking when she flukes a winter-long catering job in one of the plushest ski chalets in the Alps. At first, Kim is baffled by this bizarre new world of posh people, vintage champagne, epic mountains and waist deep powder.

Then Kim discovers snowboarding, and her natural talent soon sees her training for the end-of-season competition, with a chance to win major prize money. But before she can become a champion again, Kim needs to overcome her deepest fears – and figure out what’s going on with Jonny (Ed Westwick), her boss’ handsome but apparently unavailable son.

HBO’s set a September 8, 2013 premiere date for the fourth season of Boardwalk Empire, the critically acclaimed drama that brings the Prohibition Era alive via an incredibly colorful group of characters. Steve Buscemi and Kelly Macdonald return to lead the ensemble as Nucky Thompson and Margaret Schroeder.

Season four also stars Michael Shannon as Nelson Van Alden, Shea Whigham as Elias, Gretchen Mol as Gillian, Stephen Graham as Al Capone, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Arnold Rothstein. Jack Huston plays Richard Harrow, Anthony Laciura is Eddie Kessler, Vincent Piazza is Lucky Luciano, Michael K Williams plays Chalky White, Paul Sparks is Mickey Doyle, and Anthony Laciura stars as Eddie Kessler.

We can only be talking about We Bought a Zoo, the family film starring Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, and – we’ll repeat this just because it might not be totally clear yet – lots of animals. Machine Gun Preacher Items Up for Bid to Help Charity

Premiere tickets, an autographed Machine Gun Preacher poster, and a custom-built motorcycle ridden by Gerard Butler in the film are all up for auction on eBay to benefit Angels of East Africa. Sam Childers, the subject of the feature film, founded the charity which helps rescue “children from around the world, focusing on South Sudan and Northern Uganda.” The auction for 2 VIP seats at the Los Angeles premiere and the auction of an autographed movie poster signed by the cast both kicked off on September 14, 2011 and run through September 19th. The 2010 custom-built Rat Bike goes up for bid on September 26th, with the auction closing on October 6th (the starting bid is $30,000).

‘The Darkest Hour’ Motion Poster Arrives

Summit just unveiled a motion poster – these have become real popular with studios – for their upcoming sci-fi alien invasion film, The Darkest Hour. Starring Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachael Taylor, Joel Kinnaman, and Max Minghella, The Darkest Hour is set for a December 23, 2011 release.

The Plot: The Darkest Hour is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects.

Sarah Jessica Parker stars in the comedy movie I Don’t Know How She Does It, based on the bestseller by Allison Pearson and co-starring Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, and Christina Hendricks. I Don’t Know opens on Friday, September 16, 2011 and in support of the film’s upcoming release, Parker talks about the film’s story, its universal appeal, and working with Brosnan, Kinnear, Hendricks, and director Doug McGrath.

The Plot: Kate Reddy (Parker) devotes her days to her job with a Boston-based financial management firm. At night she goes home to her adoring, recently-downsized architect husband Richard (Kinnear) and their two young children. It’s a non-stop balancing act, the same one that Kate’s acerbic best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Hendricks) performs on a daily basis, and that Kate’s super-brainy, child-phobic young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn) fully intends to avoid. When Kate gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, Richard also wins the new job he’s been hoping for—and both will be spreading themselves even thinner.
