Tanner Hall Trailer Featuring Rooney Mara

Check out the trailer:
The Tanner Hall Plot:
As Fernanda (Rooney Mara) enters her senior year at Tanner Hall—a sheltered boarding school in New England—she’s faced with unexpected changes in her group of friends when a childhood acquaintance, the charismatic yet manipulative trouble-maker Victoria (Georgia King), appears. Shy and studious, Fernanda is usually the voice of reason among her friends—adventurous and sexy Kate (Brie Larson) and tomboy Lucasta (Amy Ferguson)—but when she begins a complicated friendship with Gio (Tom Everett Scott), an older family friend, she decides it’s finally time to take some risks. Jealous of Fernanda’s exciting relationship, Victoria begins to sabotage Fernanda’s plans and plots to publicly humiliate her. Meanwhile, Lucasta struggles with her newfound feelings towards another classmate, and mischievous Kate is too preoccupied with making her teachers nervous to pay much attention to her actual classes. However, as each of the girls flirt with adulthood, they realize they still need each other to help get through their first grown-up decisions—and the consequences they bring.
‘Glee: The 3D Concert Movie’ Review

Truth in advertising. That’s what you’re going to mostly get with Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. It features the cast of the TV show Glee and it’s a concert movie … but the 3D part is where things go horribly awry.
First off, huge chunks of the film are completely 2D. Even the individual elements converted over to 3D do little to provide any real depth, as the most noticeable effect comes from the singers thrusting the mic toward the audience. And as for anything approaching what passes for standard 3D these days (don’t get me started), one must wait until the end credits start for the third dimension to begin … as CGI slushies splash over people’s names … wow … super … so glad they’re charging people extra money for this privilege.
When not wondering why I even bothered to put on the 3D glasses in the first place, I did enjoy the concert footage. Of course, it helps that I watch Glee and enjoy the talented singers and dancers. The song lineup consists of many of the most popular renditions from the show and each key cast member gets a spotlight in the film (though Dianna Agron and Jenna Ushkowitz must have pissed somebody off because they get the least attention).
However, in lieu of talking with the cast and using those segments as interstitials between songs, director Kevin Tancharoen decided to look at the obstacles three fans have overcome thanks in some part to the message of the show. There’s a high school dwarf cheerleader with aspirations of becoming Prom Princess, a girl with Asperger’s whose love of Glee helps her deal with social anxiety, and a gay teen who was outed in junior high by the guy he had a crush on. It’s wonderful that the show could positively affect these kids but stopping the high-energy performances for peeks into their lives ruined the flow of things. Plus, what fans really want is to learn more about the cast and what they think of the show. Going away from that makes no sense.
And while the performances are great and mostly make up for the shortcomings of the filmmaking aspects, it’s just not possible to give the film that much credit. You don’t need to do much with a stage show being brought to the screen, and neglecting to do more with the cast while spotlighting three fans (no matter how poignant their stories are) simply reeks of laziness. For every issue that existed with the Justin Bieber concert movie, at least it knew that people wanted to learn more about its star and made sure to include loads of behind-the-scenes footage. This is little more than a cash grab that fans will eat up but won’t do anything to bring someone new into the picture.
So for anyone out there who couldn’t make the live performances or simply wants another taste, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie is fun … enough. It’s just a shame there isn’t the option to see this in 2D since that’s how the film is being presented anyway and those extra few bucks would be better spent at the concession stand.
GRADE: C-
Glee: The 3D Concert Movie hits theaters on August 112, 2011 and is rated PG for thematic elements, brief language and some sensuality.
New Abduction Trailer with Taylor Lautner

The Plot:
For as long as he can remember, Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) has had the uneasy feeling that he’s living someone else’s life. When he stumbles upon an image of himself as a little boy on a missing persons website, all of Nathan’s darkest fears come true: he realizes his parents are not his own and his life is a lie, carefully fabricated to hide something more mysterious and dangerous than he could have ever imagined.
Just as he begins to piece together his true identity, Nathan is targeted by a team of trained killers, forcing him on the run with the only person he can trust, his neighbor, Karen (Lily Collins). Every second counts as Nathan and Karen race to evade an army of assassins and federal operatives. But as his opponents close in, Nathan realizes that the only way he’ll survive – and solve the mystery of his elusive biological father – is to stop running and take matters into his own hands.
’30 Minutes or Less’ Movie Review

The first lie about 30 Minutes or Less is that it’s actually 83 minutes. It’s still short by feature film standards (and thankfully so), but even with so little time to fill, the “experience” lasted far too long.
Director Ruben Fleischer helmed the immensely entertaining Zombieland and in it, was able to channel Jesse Eisenberg’s slightly neurotic but altogether milk toast personality into a character that worked. Something definitely went astray here though as Eisenberg’s usual annoying and flat delivery simply was the wrong energy to match up again Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson and Michael Peña (and 75% of them were working well below their best as well).
The story is a simple one: McBride hates his father and wants what’s left of his lottery winnings. So he hires Michael Peña to kill him (via an opportunistic stripper played by Bianca Kajlich). There’s one catch: his fee is $100,000. Together with his best/only friend/lackey (Swardson), McBride coerces Eisenberg into robbing a bank to get the money by strapping a bomb vest to his chest. For moral and logistical support, Eisenberg taps on his best/only friend/lackey (Ansari) to get the job done, and hijinks are supposed to ensue.
The basic A to B setup of the plot helps to keep the runtime down, and that’s great. However, what character development there is doesn’t do anything to change our pre-expectations of the actors themselves … they might as well have used their real names for all the good that calling their efforts “acting” managed to do. There are some funny bits to be shared around, but Peña is the lone standout, actually playing someone other than himself and eliciting 90% of the laughs.
It’s even questionable whether one would benefit from seeing this in an altered state of mind, as so many of McBride’s comedies tend to suggest. The bottom line is that 30 Minutes or Less would have made a great Internet comedy skit but fails under the weight of needing to stretch things out to questionable feature length. Fleischer undid most of the goodwill he earned via Zombieland and hopefully, this throwaway effort is just a slight hiccup to his work moving forward.
GRADE: D+
30 Minutes or Less hits theaters on August 12, 2011 and is rated R for crude and sexual content, pervasive language, nudity and some violence.

Syfy Renews Warehouse 13, Ends Eureka

“Under executive producer Jack Kenny’s leadership, this superlative team of writers, cast, and crew continue to turn out a series that only gets better and better with every episode,” Syfy president of original content Mark Stern told EW. “Warehouse 13 is deservedly the most popular series in our history and we’re delighted to renew it for a fourth season.”
The team at Eureka learned their fate earlier this week when the network decided to end the series. They have, however, decided to do one final additional episode to wrap up the series.
“We Are All Warriors” Campaign Inspired by ‘Warrior’

The engrossing drama Warrior – which also has some incredible Mixed Martial Arts fight scenes – has inspired a campaign to celebrate real-life everyday warriors. The campaign asks everyone to consider the question “What do you fight for?” and then share stories about teachers, coaches, veterans, and others who inspire us through their actions.
One everyday warrior will be selected to receive a free hometown premiere of the film at an AMC Theater (the campaign’s corporate sponsor).
Warrior director Gavin O’Connor said of the initiative, “Everyone fights for something- from parents struggling to support families through tough economic times, to soldiers defending democracy, to teachers combating illiteracy, we fight for things that we believe in. I made this film to celebrate that quality of the warrior within us all, and am proud that this project is reaching out to so many people and inviting them to join in honoring those individuals who embody the qualities of a true everyday warrior. It all comes down to the question, ‘What Do You Fight For?’ and the broad range of partners and participants so far shows how universal and important this topic is.”
Warrior stars Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte, and Jennifer Morrison and is set for a September 9, 2011 release.
From the press release:
“At We Are All Warriors, project participants can answer the question in their own words, nominate another everyday warrior, vote for their favorite warriors and rally friends and family to share their contender via Facebook and Twitter.
All of the project’s inspirational submissions will remain on the website to be shared with the world – a true army of some of America’s most extraordinary citizens is already forming, including Massachusetts’ lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray who fights for his constituents, beloved wrestler Anthony Robles, submitted by ESPN, who fought to ascend in his sport despite having lost a leg, Dolores Bastrop, nominated by her husband for her tireless fight for the poor, and Mike Hardin, nominated by a ‘proud neighbor’ for fighting for life, when he rescued a mother and child from a mobile home that had erupted in fire in while they slept.”
True Blood Renewed for Season 5

“I am thrilled that True Blood continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics,” stated Lombardo. “Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV.”
Series creator Alan Ball added, “I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers. I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”
After a rocky start to season four with fairies shooting energy balls on a set that looked straight out of a bad B-movie, the addictive series has once again picked up steam. Recent episodes highlighting the growing relationship between Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin), as well as the witch storyline with Harry Potter’s Fiona Shaw delivering scene-stealing performances, have helped bring the show back around. The show is based on Charlaine Harris’ bestselling Sookie Stackhouse books but exists in a universe all its own, it’s impossible to tell what direction Ball and company will go with season five.
