Adult Swim’s huge plans for the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con include meet and greets, lots of music, and other fun activities – all taking place during their Adult Swim Festival outside the San Diego Convention Center. The Eric Andre Show‘s Eric Andre and Flying Lotus are headlining the event which will include performances by Saturday Night Live‘s Sarah Sherman and producer/DJ Akira Akira.
The Adult Swim Festival will run Thursday, July 20 through Saturday, July 22. Additional performers include Hemlocke Springs, Ginger Root, and DeathbyRomy.
“Adult Swim has always been more than its shows,” said Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen. “It’s also about music, comedy, art, and, as often as possible, getting out there with the actual fans in real life and celebrating the stuff we love together. So that’s what this is about. And it’s free. But you have to promise us you’ll wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. And maybe wear a hat. Your mom asked that we make sure.”
The festival’s free to attend, but tickets are hard to come by. Just minutes after opening AdultSwimFestival.com, tickets for every event were sold out. However, tickets may become available throughout SDCC, so it’s best to check on the website occasionally to see if any have been returned by Con-goers who aren’t able to fit the festival into their schedule.
Adult Swim Festival 2023’s lineup includes:
- The “SMILING FRIENDS Rodeo” celebrating one of Adult Swim’s most popular series with creators Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel.
- Acclaimed for their musical scores on Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom will be joined by a live orchestra for “The Genndy Tartakovsky Musical Experience,” with an introduction by acclaimed creator Genndy Tartakovsky himself.
- Anime fans are in for a special treat with the “Toonami on the Green” event featuring breaking news, surprise guests and never-before-seen reveals.
- Plus, the festival will present a trivia and screening event.
Pop-Tarts will host The Toasting Room: A Pop-Tarts Dining Experience during Adult Swim Festival, and a special hydration station will be offering fruit-infused Hint Water and vitamin-boosted Hint+ Vitamin.
