History’s Alone season 10 episode 2 kicks off going back in time to the day of the drop-off. Episode two opens by catching up with Ann, age 56 and from Wisconsin, immediately after the drop-off boat leaves.

She admits to being a little overwhelmed but locates what she thinks might be the perfect spot for her shelter. Although she’s concerned about food, she’s going to concentrate on shelter first.

Ann’s an organic farmer and claims ingenuity is her secret power. She doesn’t make a lot of money farming, and winning Alone would be a huge help. Ann’s trained for this opportunity her whole life.

She spots some bear scat and hopes to eventually hunt big game.

Night falls and her first meal is mushrooms. She’s exhausted from her first day.

Day 6 – Geese flying overhead remind Ann that it’s time to get busy working on her shelter. She expends a lot of energy moving rocks as she digs down to create her shelter. Ann calls herself a Type A personality and was accepted to West Point but decided to go to the mountains of North Carolina instead. She feels great about her decision and loves living off the land.

Ann hasn’t caught any fish and is happy when she spots some moose scat. She’ll hunt for it after finishing her shelter.

Alone Season 10 Wyatt
Wyatt in The History Channel’s ‘Alone’ season 10

Wyatt, Age 51, Ontario, Canada

Day 2 – Wyatt works on his shelter and then strips for a quick dip in the cold lake. He owns a contracting company and is suited for the outdoors because although he’s not a master of anything, he’s got many talents, including hunting, beekeeping, and preparing food.

Wyatt believes he’ll be able to find whatever he needs in this environment because it’s just like what he experiences at home. If he wins, he plans to open a wilderness school and make other people’s lives better.

He thinks it’s not food or shelter that will be the most difficult for him to tackle, it’s loneliness.

Fishing is his number one food option, and he’s familiar with the fish in this area. His first task is to build a rod, a gill net, and lures. Wyatt’s going to work on the gill net first since it fishes 24/7.

Wyatt’s got a temporary shelter up and will slowly, methodically work on putting up a permanent place to live. He’s aware of the freezing winds heading his way, but he’s patient and refuses to quit on anything.

Day 4 – Wyatt fishes and then spends a little time brushing his teeth. (Survivalists aren’t allowed toothpaste, but they are provided a toothbrush.) He checks his gill net but it’s empty, and Wyatt confesses he’s feeling pretty hungry.

The wind’s kicking up a bit as he casts from the shoreline. Blueberries are all he’s been eating; he hasn’t had any protein in four days. Unfortunately, he doesn’t catch a fish and decides to call it a day. Back at camp, the wind roars and sounds like a freight train. Wyatt can feel the roots under him moving the trees as the 31 mph wind races through his camp.

Day 5 – The wind caused his tarp to be incredibly noisy all night, and he didn’t get much sleep. Still, he heads off to check his gill net since the wind’s now gone. He catches a big pike and does a happy dance, excited to have fish for breakfast. It’s such a large fish that he believes he can get 8-10 meals out of it.

Alone Season 10 Melanie

Melanie, Age 55, New York

Day 3 – We catch up with Melanie as she realizes that she left her camera on when she was urinating. It’s embarrassing, and she laughs as she promises it won’t happen again.

Melanie’s decided that focusing on her permanent shelter is her priority. She’s nearly 6’ tall and needs a tall shelter she can stand up in. However, she knows she needs to make sure her shelter’s insulated.

She lives in the Adirondacks with her fiancé, dogs, chickens, and ducks. Melanie was a model in the ‘80s and eventually transitioned into being a child and baby wrangler on shoots. Being a mom prompted her to become interested in the wilderness, and now she’s co-owner of Thunderhawk Living History and Nature School.

Her skills as a living historian should help her adapt to this environment. She’s concerned about the winter weather and the wind, and needs to build an impenetrable shelter.

Alone Season 10 Mikey

Mikey, Age 31, Georgia

Day 4 – Today, Mikey’s focusing on finding food but doesn’t seem to have much energy. He’s only eaten six handfuls of berries thus far. He doesn’t have experience surviving in this type of environment and has never hunted the animals he’ll encounter on Alone.

Mikey’s a carpenter and has great tracking, hunting, and fishing skills. He grew up without power or water for years and is proficient at foraging.

Mikey’s a father of five, including a young son on the autism spectrum. He hopes to use the prize money to help his son live a better life.

Mikey goes out hunting but doesn’t have any luck. He knows he needs to figure something out fast, and compounding the situation is the fact that he gets turned around trying to make his way back to camp. (Survivalists aren’t allowed compasses.) Mikey can’t locate the shoreline because the trees are too thick. He can’t ask for help – that’s considered a tap-out.

He planned on using paracord to mark his path but forgot. Now, he’s getting exhausted trying to get back to his camp. Finally, he spots the shoreline and a familiar trail. He’s dehydrated and tired, but at least he’s back at camp.

Day 8 – Mikey sets out hunting and this time he remembers to mark his trail. He spots a grouse but decides to be patient and wait for the right shot. He slowly approaches the bird and fires, hitting the bird with his first shot. It’s not dead and he dispatches it quickly, overjoyed that he’ll have a decent meal.

A grouse is around 500 calories.

Day 9 – Mikey’s stomach is upset, and he’s disappointed he hasn’t caught any fish. He sets to work on his shelter and admits that if he had more food, he would have made his shelter a little sturdier.

Mikey believes he’s strong enough mentally to make it through this challenge. Unfortunately, his stomach won’t stop hurting.

Alone Season 10 Jodi
Jodi Rose in The HISTORY Channel’s ‘Alone’ season 10

Jodi, Age 45, Wyoming

Day 9 – Jodi’s hands are filthy from working on the shelter, and her fingers are covered with blisters. She locates some pitch to put on a nasty cut and covers it with tape before heading out to find more logs. She thinks she needs another 10 trees to finish her log cabin, and admits it’s taken an extreme amount of calories to build her shelter.

Jodi recalls feeling broken after her horrific accident, but her family was always there for her, helping in any way they could. Their love pulled her through, but it took her three years to walk without crutches. Jodi’s determined to keep fighting no matter what.

Alone Season 10 Taz
Taz in The History Channel’s ‘Alone’ season 10

Taz, Age 35, Massachusetts

Day 7 – Taz hears a squirrel as he’s working on a gill net and takes off with his bow. He scores his first kill on his second shot and then tracks down his arrows.

Taz grew up in a small fishing village in Brazil and knows how to work the land. He’s the father of twins and will use the prize money to bring his kids from Brazil so they can live together.

Fishing is crucial to survive, and Taz decides to build a canoe using spruce saplings. His strategy is that nothing other than his shelter should take two days. If something takes longer, then he’ll give up on it.

Day 8 – The canoe’s taking shape, and Taz explains he had to scrape away the spruce’s sharp points to make it safe for the tarp. He finishes up the canoe and takes it out to see if it floats.

He takes a seat in his new canoe, and it’s lake-worthy! Taz only goes for a quick ride and then returns to working on his gill net.

Taz sets up his gill net and catches a massive trout. It’s dark out when he prepares the trout and sets up a teepee smoker with a moss wall.

Day 9 – He wakes up and checks his smoker. He stokes the fire too much, and his entire smoker catches on fire. He races to fetch water (the lake’s only a few feet away) and douses the fire, but not before the smoker’s destroyed along with his fish.
