Breaking Bad> season four went out with a bang, raking in 1.9 viewers during its first showing and 2.9 million for the night (over three airings at 10pm, 11pm, and 1am). The show’s up 24% over last season, averaging 1.9 million viewers over season four, making it the highest-rated season of the series.

The critically acclaimed drama has already been picked up for a fifth season, with AMC announcing in August that they’re bringing the show back for a 16 episode season five in 2012. The series is considered “the most engaging series on television according to Nielsen’s IAG, which measures program engagement and ad effectiveness,” so says AMC.
