Bridgerton fans have another series to wait impatiently to binge. Shondaland and Netflix are launching a new Bridgerton limited series spinoff that focuses on a young Lady Violet.
Lady Violet’s played by Ruth Gemmell in the original series and by Connie Jenkins-Greig in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Shondaland’s announcement didn’t indicate if Jenkins-Greig will continue the role in the untitled Violet spinoff.
Rhimes wrote Queen Charlotte based on an original idea. However, Bridgerton author Julia Quinn spilled the tea on Violet’s romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton in her 2013 short novella, Violet in Bloom.
The only description Netflix offered of the new limited series is brief: “Similar to the massive global hit Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the series will chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.”
Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini serve as writers, showrunners, and executive producers. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce, and Betsy Beers is involved as an executive producer.
The most recent season of Bridgerton – season four – premiered in January 2026. Season five, which shifts the focus to Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), is still in production in London.
