Season two of Showtime’s award-winning thriller Yellowjackets has added Elijah Wood in a season-long guest starring role. According to the official announcement, Wood is playing Walter, “a dedicated Citizen Detective who will challenge Misty in ways she won’t see coming.”
Wood will be joining returning Yellowjackets stars Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Juliette Lewis (Camping), Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything), and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). It was recently announced that Servant‘s Lauren Ambrose has taken a series regular role for season two, playing the adult version of Van. Liv Hewston, the teen version of Van, has been upped to series regular for the upcoming season.
Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s Simone Kessell has signed on to play the adult Lottie Matthews. Courtney Eaton, the teen version, will be a regular in season two.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos) created the popular series and serve as executive producers along with their fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco and Creative Engine’s Drew Comins.
Season one of the addictive drama scored seven Emmy Awards nominations and averaged over 5 million viewers. Melanie Lynskey won the Best Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, and the series also earned two Writers Guild nominations.
Yellowjackets currently stands as the second-most streamed series in Showtime’s history. Filming is expected to get underway on season two this month in Vancouver.

“Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
