Season two of ABC’s action-packed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. promises big changes for all of the central characters following an explosive season one finale. The show will kick off season two on September 23, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT with S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division) in a rebuilding mode and Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in place as the new Director. In season one, Hydra had infiltrated the agency and ruined S.H.I.E.L.D.’s reputation and left Coulson with the difficult task of figuring out who he can trust.
Among the players returning for season two are Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) who were left adrift in the ocean to die in season one. Both survived, but Fitz was left severely injured and, even if he recovers, he may never be the same again.
Together at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, De Caestecker and Henstridge discussed what fans can expect from the second season of the comic book-inspired series:
