‘Elsbeth’ Episode 5 Preview: “Ball Girl” Photos, Cast and Promo

CBS’s Elsbeth continues to bring in fun celebrity guest stars and episode five’s no exception. Blair Underwood (Three Women, Smothered) guest stars as a tennis coach and helicopter dad in “Ball Girl,” airing on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT. Rob Hardy directs episode five from a script by Eric Randall.

Carrie Preston leads the season one cast in the title role. Wendell Pierce stars as Captain C.W. Wagner and Carra Patterson plays Officer Kaya Blanke. Jonathan Tolins guides the series as showrunner and also executive produces along with Liz Glotzer.

“Ball Girl” Plot: When the world’s top tennis champion drops dead on the court, Elsbeth and Kaya hone in on a rising tennis star and his competitive father and coach (Underwood). Meanwhile, Captain Wagner begins to suspect Elsbeth’s reason for being in New York goes beyond the consent decree.

Emmy Award winner Carrie Preston stars as Elsbeth Tascioni, an astute but unconventional attorney who utilizes her singular point of view to make unique observations and corner brilliant criminals alongside the NYPD. After leaving her successful legal career in Chicago to tackle a new investigative role in New York City, Elsbeth finds herself jockeying with the toast of the NYPD, Captain C.W. Wagner (Pierce), a charismatic and revered leader. Working alongside Elsbeth is Officer Kaya Blanke (Patterson), a stoic and ethical officer who quickly develops an appreciation for Elsbeth’s insightful and offbeat ways.
