The CW will be launching the new series Famous in 12 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT. The series, executive produced by TMZ‘ Harvey Levin along with Naked and Afraid‘s David Garfinkle and Jay Renfroe, is described as an “unscripted series/social experiment” that follows one fame-seeking family for 24 hours a day over the course of 12 consecutive weeks.

There is a family in the U.S. that has what it takes to become famous. The question is: can they pull it off in 12 weeks? That’s the challenge in the new unscripted series Famous in 12, a unique social experiment that tracks the lives of one determined family as they move to the entertainment capital of the world — Los Angeles — and seek fame while being filmed around the clock for 12 weeks straight. Focusing on one family, Famous in 12 will pull back the curtain to reveal how the fame machine operates.
Members of the family all have unique talents, and they will be guided by the TMZ machine, which will create a series of opportunities for them. TMZ and Harvey Levin will help, and additional experts will be brought in throughout the course of the series to provide input and guidance on the path to fame, but it is up to the family to pull it off. Throughout their 12-week quest, the family will circulate through some of Los Angeles’ most populated – and popular – venues in order to seize opportunities that might come calling.
Family members will also utilize all forms of social media to wage a “fame campaign.” They will be constantly tracked via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to build their social media profiles. This information will be analyzed by the show’s “Star Power Meter” each week to determine the standing of the individual family members. This real time approach to the show will enable the audience and family members to interact in a new way – fans will be directly affecting story and cast behavior week to week.
