ABC’s popular primetime medical drama The Good Doctor is setting the stage for the spinoff The Good Lawyer with an embedded pilot, shifting the episode’s air date from March 6th to Monday, March 13, 2023.

The Good Lawyer will star Kennedy McMann (Nancy Drew), Emmy Award-winner Felicity Huffman (American Crime), and Bethlehem Million (Sick).

The embedded pilot will find Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeking legal representation to help him win a case. He puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer who has obsessive-compulsive disorder. Kennedy McMann plays Jodi DeGroot, the brilliant, funny, and self-aware lawyer who is relatively new to her prestigious law firm when she takes Shaun’s case. Felicity Huffman stars as Janet Stewart, a highly regarded attorney and partner at the law firm with a fierce intellect and dry wit. Bethlehem Million plays Abbie, Joni’s compassionate, practical slightly older sister. A voice of reason, she is Joni’s biggest cheerleader, roommate, and best friend.

The pilot was written by co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman. Ruben Fleischer directed the spinoff’s embedded episode.

The Good Doctor season six stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Hill Harper plays Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff is Dr. Aaron Glassman, and Will Yun Lee is Dr. Alex Park. Paige Spara stars as Lea Dilallo, Christina Chang is Dr. Audrey Lim, Fiona Gubelmann plays Dr. Morgan Reznick, Bria Henderson is Dr. Jordan Allen, and Noah Galvin is Dr. Asher Wolke.
