‘Supernatural’ Reunion Grows as Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins ‘The Boys’

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins The Boys

Eric Kripke continues to pull in his Supernatural friends to fill out Prime Video’s The Boys, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan being the latest Supernatural veteran to sign up for the incredibly twisted, comic book-inspired series. There hasn’t been any official confirmation of who Morgan will play, however, he did tweet out his excitement over being a part of the mini-Supernatural reunion.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s a huge fan of The Boys and has been looking forward to the opportunity to reunite with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke for a while. Kripke told EW in May 2022 that the idea of bringing in Jeffrey Dean Morgan was still very much on his mind. It was all a matter of scheduling which was complicated when Morgan committed to starring in a The Walking Dead spinoff with Lauren Cohan.

“We might still remain star-crossed, unfortunately, because I did ask. We had a role come up, and my first question was, ‘Well, is Jeffrey available?'” said Kripke in May.

Fortuantely, the pieces finally fell into place and Morgan was able to fit a recurring guest role into his schedule. “Can’t tell you how excited I am! Big thanks to @therealKripke and @AMCPlus & @TheBoysTV for finding a way with both schedules. No easy task. SO DAMN STOKED!!” – twitter.com/JDMorgan

Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles, who played Morgan’s son, Dean Winchester, joined the party for season three of The Boys as Soldier Boy. The Boys also features Supernatural‘s Jim Beaver in the recurring role of Secretary of Defense Robert A. Singer. Beaver played Bobby Singer in 70-ish episodes of Supernatural.

The Boys‘ Jack Quaid tweeted, “YES! Welcome to the party @JDMorgan!!!!” and Karl Urban said, “@JDMorgan joins The Boys – Whaaaattt !! Mind blown ? Welcome JD CAN NOT WAIT.”

Eric Kripke sent a welcoming tweet: “Welcome to the fam, @JDMorgan. We’re all SO PSYCHED to have you!!”

Even AMC’s The Walking Dead‘s official Twitter account got in on the celebration.
