Netflix picked up the Paramount+ limited series The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey earlier this summer after Paramount+ opted not to release the finished series. Now, Netflix has confirmed the series, based on true events, will premiere on December 10, 2026. The release date announcement included the first official photo.
Two-time Emmy winner Melissa McCarthy stars as Patsy Ramsey and Oscar nominee Clive Owen plays John Bennett Ramsey. Emily Mitchell plays JonBenét Ramsey, Garrett Hedlund is Det. Steve Thomas, Alison Pill is Det. Linda Arndt, Shea Whigham is Alex Hunter, and Owen Teague is Shane Edwards. Clifton Collins Jr. plays Det. Tom Trujillo, Angus Caldwell is Burke Ramsey, Jaime Ray Newman is Amelia Hunt, Rory Cochrane is John Eller, and Chris Bauer is Chief Tom Koby.
Rounding out the ensemble are Will Patton as Lou Smit, Jeremy Bobb as Pete Hofstrom, John Billingsley as Santa Bill McReynolds, Josh Stamberg as Reed Hunt, Margo Martindale as Nedra Paugh, and Tzi Ma as Dr. Henry Lee.
Netflix’s synopsis reads, “The series centers on one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history and the devastating personal and public reckoning that followed the death of JonBenét Ramsey on Christmas night in 1996.”
Oscar nominee Richard LaGravenese, Harrison Query, and Tommy Wallach wrote the series, and LaGravenese is the showrunner. Anne Sewitsky directed and serves as an executive producer along with LaGravenese, Query, Wallach, Melissa McCarthy, and Sewitsky. Additional executive producers include 101 Studios’ David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin.
