1883 star LaMonica Garrett has joined the cast of Paramount+’s upcoming drama, Special Ops: Lioness. The series comes from prolific writer/producer Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown) and will star Zoe Saldaña and Laysla De Oliveira.

Dave Annable, who had a brief but important role in season one of Yellowstone as Lee Dutton, has also signed up for Special Ops: Lioness. And Taylor Sheridan’s also invited James Jordan to come on board the project. Sheridan and Jordan previously worked together on 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, and Yellowstone, as well as Sheridan’s films Those Who Wish Me Dead and Wind River.

Zoe Saldaña is serving as an executive producer in addition to starring in the original series. Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone, and John Hillcoat, as well as Nicole Kidman and her Blossom Films company are also executive producing.

Filming is planned for Baltimore, MD. Paramount+ hasn’t announced a targeted premiere date.

Paramount+ released the following description of the series:

Lioness is based on a real-life CIA program and follows Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within. Saldaña will play Joe, the station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing and leading her female undercover operatives.

Jordan and Garrett will play Two Cups and Tucker, respectively, experienced CIA Special Activities Division operatives on Joe’s team. Annable will play Neil, Joe’s husband and the father of their two daughters.”
