Lanterns New Teaser: Laura Linney Joins Cast of HBO Max DC Series

HBO Max’s new teaser for Lanterns gives us more action, more of the relationship between Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), and above all, more green. It also confirms Nathan Fillion’s back as Guy Gardner and teases the introduction of Laura Linney’s character.

The comic book-inspired series also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jasmine Cephas Jones.

Per HBO Max: “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

Lanterns will premiere on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King created the series and wrote the pilot. Mundy serves as the showrunner and executive produces along with Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt, and James Hawes. Season one directors include Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov.

Lanterns is produced by Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
