Rachael Harris says she’s happy Dr. Linda is now in the know about Lucifer, Maze, Amenadiel and Charlotte, and that she’s considered an integral part of #TeamLucifer. Harris was part of the Lucifer squad who took part in the show’s panel at the 2017 WonderCon, joining Kevin Alejandro (‘Detective Dan Espinoza’), Lesley-Ann Brandt (‘Mazikeen’), executive producer Joe Henderson, and executive producer Ildy Modrovich to discuss the remaining episodes of season two – without giving away any spoilers. Harris also sat down for roundtable interviews to talk about what’s going on with Dr. Linda and what viewers can look forward to when season two returns from a three month break on May 1, 2017.

Dr. Linda accepted it pretty well when she learned Lucifer’s secret. Were you surprised at that reaction?

Rachael Harris: “Yeah, she did. She was horrified but also one thing that I love about Dr. Linda is she tries to keep an open mind and she was horrified but it was kind of like that was a big deal. But we were just talking about the reaction that I did – that was really talked out because I didn’t want to go mental. The great thing about Maze is Maze is the one who made it kind of make sense to her, right, by saying, ‘I’m just a normal person. I’m not, but try to talk to me as somebody like that with these limitations,’ because everybody has limitations and flaws and things that we’re working on. So, that was a definite choice.

In that moment I like to say that she just shut down like a computer and just needed to reboot when she got that information. She’s still coping with it in the next five episodes that we see before we go to season three or get to the four one-off episodes. She’s always dealing with it.”

Did Dr. Linda feel proud that she was Lucifer’s first human who knew the secret and that she was tolerant?

Rachael Harris: “I felt like it spoke volumes for what we’re dealing with right now in our world. It was very symbolic that she was able to say, ‘I’m going to accept this about you, even though you have so much shame about it and you want to hide it.’ There’s a great scene…I don’t know if we’ve seen it yet…it’s the one where I tell him, ‘Why don’t you trust her? I’m still here. I care for you.’ I think that’s all of our biggest fears is if you really see how mean or how sad or what low self-esteem I have you will run for the hills. And it’s such a great thing that says, ‘No, it’s okay.’ We all have these feelings and we can get through it together.”

She’s a good person and yet she’s slept with her patient, befriended Maze, and didn’t report Amenadiel. Will there be any repercussions for her?

Rachael Harris: “Yes. Well, you know God appears – Timothy Omundson – and Linda’s reaction to meeting God is pretty awesome. I think what we see is the repercussions of her committing to Maze and committing to Lucifer and to everyone. They’re her friends and she’s become very loyal to them. So, what happens when somebody or some entity tries to get information from her has catastrophic consequences to it. And, you get to see just how far Linda will go to take care of her friends. So, yeah, things come back to haunt her a little bit. Then also we will get to know more about Linda in one of the episodes, in one of the one-offs.”

A flashback?

Rachael Harris: “Sort of.”

We don’t know anything about Linda, really.

Rachael Harris: “I know. It’s kind of great though because I feel like that is a great place to go. We know that she’s got a big heart. I find the most empathetic people sometimes are the people who have gone through the most.”

Do you get any say in her story?

Rachael Harris: “I did. Yes. I was requesting because I often have a lot of funny lines, I will carry a lot of the funny aspects of the show given my background and everything, but I said to them, ‘You know, I would really enjoy doing some more dramatic aspects of the show.’ And that was where ‘Monster’ started happening, the episode ‘Monster’ where he does reveal himself. But I was like, ‘We can go further,’ because it was but it wasn’t. It was more of a shocker. So, they heard me when I said I would like to do something a little bit more dramatic. Things get a bit scary and honest in the next five episodes.”

Will Linda get in on the action at all?

Rachael Harris: “Yes. I have a stunt double! That’s not saying anything…but it says something. I have a stunt double that comes out in, I think, the finale. And then I have a stunt double again, but that’s in one of the one-offs which we’re not allowed to talk about and I just kind of did.”
