Matthew McConaughey Delivers a Moving Oscar Acceptance Speech

Matthew McConaughey kept it together for most of his Best Actor Oscar acceptance speech but choked up a bit when he talked about the importance of his mother, deceased father, his wife, and his children. McConaughey earned his first Oscar for the dramatic film Dallas Buyers Club and as a Best Actor nominee, had to sit through nearly three hours of the awards show before learning if he would be taking home the Oscar statuette.

McConaughey’s co-star Jared Leto also went home an Oscar winner, however, he learned his fate right off the bat. Leto’s Best Supporting Actor category was the first award of the night, which meant Leto could actually relax and have fun for the rest of the evening.
