Alaric is back on The Vampire Diaries and Matthew Davis was ready and willing to talk about his return during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. “It’s very interesting. I feel like when you’re with a character for so long, it begins to parallel sort of synchronistic events in your own personal life. And so for me, the last two years I’ve definitely felt out of sync and in limbo, and I think having Alaric come back it feels…not only have I grown but I know that he has grown,” explained Davis when asked about Alaric’s return to The CW series. “Now that we’re starting the season a bit in the future, it’s really interesting to see how they’re beginning to set up season six, which I think will be probably my favorite season, based on what I’ve been told, since season one.”
Fans will have to wait until October for the kick-off of season six, but Davis explained why he believes it will be one of the best. “I think we’re coming back into alignment. I think the character development is going to be unlike it’s been before, which I’m really excited about. I think it’s going to be a really great progression,” said Davis.
